Thanks for the video. Managed to access the info and identify my 2016 W176's SW and FW verisons. Its nearly all same as your except my car's SW number is higher. Using you other videos, activated Carplay. Shame Android Auto doesn't work.

Great to hear! The Android Auto wont work as it needs a higher specific firmware version. Its only possible at Main dealer or a specialist but the cost is not worth it. Just watch my Android Auto alternative video and thats the solution I use, works great!

i see you show us how to look at the software versions…. but did i miss the part where you tell us how to differentiate between what we see ours has and what we need to have for car play to be activated with tool? sorry i’m just confused because seeing the software version doesn’t tell me if it’s the one i need to have or not 🤔

Thanks for this i am now exploring this again. I have checked the SW version and it is 154310 i want to install apple CarPlay. Do i buy the OBD2 Adapter in your link? My vin details say it this "505-AUDIO 20 RADIO NOT NAVIGATION-CAPABLE NTG5/NTG5.5" will odb2 NTG5S1 work? please really need your help!

Hi mate, Thanks for your video. I have 2016 E220 and I can see NTG5/5.5 Comand Aps on the data card. But unfortunately, I couldn't access Engineering or diag menu by pressing End Call+*+3 or End Call+1+# Is there any other key combination to access engineering/car diag menu? Thanks in advance,

Can we go to engineering menu like other cla does, I tried pressing hangup + # + 1 but nothing works?

I have a video coming on the engineering mode soon so keep an eye out for it and you can then try it. Have only tried it on A Class A45 w176 not CLA but should be similar process.

Thanks for the video, I followed all step, and I got SW version APPL 183140, SW version DOM 180400, Boot SW version 183140, HMI version 12/12/2017, (5..4.4 108396 -NTG51-M3-00). It is a GLA 2019. Does that mean Apple Carplay/Android Auto can be installed ? thanks

Would SW Version APPL 150406 be too old to enable carplay using an activation dongle?

Yes, this is too old SW, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto is not supported on this. Sorry.

Hi, I’m trying to unlock CarPlay on my 65 plate A class. I’ve got NTG5star1 system and which has identical screen and 2 USB ports like your cars. I’ve got the ODB tool and followed your other videos steps to try and activate it. But when I go to connect my phone it doesn’t bring up CarPlay. Is there anything I’m missing? Any help would be great. Thanks

@@ManiSuReal I checked and there is no apple CarPlay in the telephone menu. I tried it a couple times, following the instructions in your video, and it just doesn’t show when connecting my phone. I’m using a official apple cable as well. I also tried to connect using an older iPhone in case there was an issue with newer models. I’ve checked the software versions etc and everything seems to point that I should be able to get CarPlay within my car. I’m currently stumped lol. Is there any thing else that I could check to get it to work?? Also I tried to message you on Twitter in ref of this but I couldn’t send a DM.

@@kskohli92 Okay if there is no apple carplay in the telephone menu then it seems the activation didnt go through. You mentioned it was a 65 plate, its possible your build was before 12/2015. Do you have your VIN number to hand so I can check this for you? My twitter handle is also manisureal but I have not received any DMs from you. Thanks

Yes my car is a 65 plate, but this means it was made between sept 2015-Feb 2016. So it falls into the window where it should be possible to work. I will try to find the VIN number tomorrow for you. Hi So if it states 154310, does that mean Apple Carplay can be installed? My car's an A180 and the production date was 14/10/2015. I think it has NTG5 Thanks in advance

The production date seems to be slightly older than recommended but if you have that same number then yes Apple Carplay is possible.

Hello, I followed your previous video and went into my navigation settings. It shows NTG5star1 and I have followed this video and my software version is different to yours, I have 154310 would I still be able to activate apple carplay with this version? Thanks in advance

Hi, this software version is old but Apple Carplay might only be possible with this. Definitely not Android Auto. Thanks

From what I know it will enable all settings which means some cars might be able to get Apple Carplay and/or Android Auto BUT you may lose speakers, radio, navigation, bluetooth. It could be one or more of these or a combination of all but it will be down to your vehicle. So it carries a far bigger risk than the reward of Apple Carplay. After that, you will need to visit Mercedes to restore the software if you encounter those issues.

Hi, I couldn't get through with red+1+#. I pressed red+3+*. I got through. I pressed the hidden transport mode button. After an hour or 2 radio restarted. Most settings for the vehicule disappeared, also a possibility of handfree set ( both Microsoft nad loudapeaker). But combination red+1+# workshop and I have AA and Carpkay. They only problem is missing handfree system. Any new ideas how to get it back ?

Do you think is possible in cla250 2015?

Our numbers match up, i used the tool i have both apple and Android Auto but when i connected multiple cables, original and after market nothing happens. The connect device message goes away but it doesnt work. Any ideas

Thats very werid. Have you checked if you are connecting to the port that actually enables apple carplay? There are two ports. Only one is for AppleCarplay. Also is your IOS uptodate and have you tried another iPhone? I think the minimum supported is iPhone 5s. Android Auto wont work for you.

Hey! I really need help. I have a Mercedes Benz CLA 220d from 2016, and ive been trying alot to get apple carplay, apple car play wont show up or android auto on the telephone menu, connected with wires wont work too, and the thing that is confusing me is if i go to «info» menu on the car it gives me informasjon about apple car play, how to connect and how to disconnect etc etc, but it has never once showed up as an option

If you mean selecting “set page” and then holding on//off button until system restarts, it won’t work.. :(

Oh no! That's not possible without star diagnostics tool which either Mervedes main dealer or a Mercedes specialist have. They will need to reset the software on the infotainment.

Hi, sorry it's no longer possible with this software version. It's been patched and you will need an official Mercedes dealer or a Mercedes specialist. There will be a cost of about 500GBP. Thanks

you don’t say what the software versions need to be… you show us yours but us that the exact versions and only those? very unclear
