A tip for anyone using tape when painting, remove the tape before the paint fully dries so it doesn't tear the paint when you remove it.

As a graffiti artist who uses these colors quite often I can tell you exactly why that pink give you trouble. applying that particular pink to any surface and some of the other Rustoleum colors can be tricky especially because that particular color is a gloss finish paint that does not adhere or cover quite as well as some of the other flat or satin or even semi-gloss colors. Also be careful with some of the yellows and "real orange" color in particular.

"Flat" & "Glossy" spray paints give different effects. Glossy is better for hydro dips... it doesn't dry as quickly when it hits the water.

Hint: Use enamel paint. It won't form the acrylic plastic layer in the water. However, it does need a while [24-48 hours] to dry out. Cool stuff. Thanks.

In your experience owuld you say it has a smoother finish or holds up better? My issue with spreay paint is it always seems to wear off pretty quick even with clear coats, but it could be because I'm using cheap paint.

a bit of advice for someone who's been hydro dipping for a few years: make sure you put a coat of white or some sort of color on the object before you dip it, and if possible find a spot such as in the inside or taped off to hold it. also he wasn't doing this till the end of the video but move the paint around, use more than one spray paint at once, get a friend over and have them spray a paint in while you spray in two others (it typically only works best with three paints) the more you move it the better it'll look

First of all, you have not been hydrodipping for a few years, because you don’t even know what you are talking about. You don’t spray a “color” before you paint, it’s primer. Also you don’t need more than 2 paints, or someone to help you. It depends on preference. It is pretty obvious this is your first hydrodipping video you have seen. And you probably learned the rest from comments.

Bert0ld0 we just used white primer and purple metal rust resistant coat and we used probably the same temperature water as a water hose left untouched on a hot sunny day yea about that same temperature but we didnt know exactly the right way to do it because we used an air nozzle to dry it so it had popped bubbles all over it but it still looked sick

As an alternative to using a primer on non-porous or other less porous materials, try a spray-on "adhesion promoter" that comes in a standard spray can. Great for plastic, wood and metals, especially if you don't necessarily want to change the natural color of the material being painted.

It all depends on what you clean it with, what you coated the paint with, what type of paint you use, and the use of the weapon and the elements it’s in. It a weapon for show, it should be fine. But if it’s used by LEO’s or security guards, it might have worn off.

Jon Con: Rustoleum is actually a fairly durable brand of paint and it was properly primed and clear coated. As long as he wasn’t constantly mag dumping Tulammo through it like Jerry Miculek in the desert, or cleaning it with a Dremel, I imagine that it would hold up with minimal wear

The second phone cover that was dipped turned out as it should. If you watch where the phone was dipped the 'pink' or lighter color was placed in the center of the rings which contains very little paint. Nice vid.

waterbased paints will disolve in water, but oilbased paints should work pretty well. i think it's best if you did a bit more research online. and look at some tutorials on how to do different patterns.

NizzleNotes I hydro dippped my 1911, dmr and m4 base and they all turned out fantstic. Use krylon spray paint it works better than rustoleum.

The ideas are coming in lol thanks I'll b doing my slide as well and many things

This reminds me of a thing called marbling, which is basically a way of dropping paint like you did to make patterns, which they manipulate with special tools. If you could try this out it'd be neat.

I tried hydro dipping the kitchen but my brother yelled at me when I brought the hose in the house

well the g36 is almost entirely made from polymer exept magwell, barrel, trigger etc.

You don't have to spray in the middle every time you can actually spray in different spots at different angles to manipulate the designs. You can also rotate the cans as you spray to warp the colors together.

The water needs to be extremely hot for the paint to properly be applied to the object

I've done it with cold water before. the warmer the water the longer you have till the paint dries on the sureface of the water.

well it cant be above 100 degrees C as the water would just start to boil away. I think Luke warm to hot would have been a better choice of words

A couple things I've found that helps the paint better, 1. Use warm water in your dip bucket or tub, about 90 degrees. 2. If you run hot water over the spray cans or have another bucket that has hot water in it that you have the cans sitting in, it helps the paint not do what you were experiencing with those two colors. 3. Also I've used chopsticks or pieces of metal hangers to swirl the paint around right after spraying it on the water for a better swirl effect.

Ali Cetin id advise not doing it on car rims. There are a lot of better ways of applying hydrographics, and your local auto body shop might have hydro dipping services where professionals will do it. But hey, if you want to do it in a cheap way, and you like doing things yourself then go for it.

Bruh, that snow camo Glock slide is straight fire. I'm bouta do that with mine too. Thanks for the great tutorial on how to hydro dip. I've been wanting to do it forever, but haven't know how to do it properly.
