That's a first for me. I grew up with gardens my dad had and we always had butter beans. We ALWAYS pulled them green as your first pod shows. I never knew you could cook and eat the dry ones. Now that I think about it, it's no different than a bag of dry beans you buy at a store.......just never considered saving the dried ones. Thanks for the video.

+Phil Brown Thanks for watching Phil. You can separate the dry ones from the green ones. It makes them easier to cook

Love the simplicity and peace of your video. I once had a garden grower bring in some green lima beans that he had cooked and they were delicious. Can that be done with all limas and when should they be picked? Thank you and God Bless

Very nice video. Not to short, not too long, and good info. I especially like the way that you did the comparison of the different stages of pod development at the end. I'll be growing butter beans for the first time this year. For storing the dried beans, do you lay them out after shelling and let them dry a bit more? I was thinking maybe bagging and freezing? They would be used within a year so....

Thank you. Yes sir, I spread them out on paper towels and let them air dry for about an hour. I vacuum seal about two cups in each package which is plenty for a two person meal. Then I freeze them. Thanks for watching and enjoy your beans.

Favorite here in South Carolina! First time planting though was last year. I usually pick mine at the second and third stage. (When they are filled out good). My question is: Do the beans keep producing all during the summer? Like if I picked all the beans off a bush at one time, would more beans come on that same bush later?
