I'd learn varial kickflips next man. Build up your confidence buy learning a few different flips and get comfortable landing on the board from different rotations. Hardflips are one of those flips that seriously can take some people years and years to get.

I'm 36 years old. Been skating for 20 years. I just landed my first hardflip ever right after landing my first front crook on a rail. Thank you guys for the help and entertainment. I'm so pumped to make progress skating at this age. Would love to skate with you guys if you're ever in the Philly area!
Nigel is moving his whole body out of the way. It looks hilarious, but works!
Been trying a hardflip for 3 months went out after watching this and it only took 5 tries to finally get it thanks for the tips!

This "you just have to bend your knee" is one of the most underestimated advices ever! Just because of this i landed so many tricks i always struggled with. Thank you very much Brail! I restarted skateboarding after 13 years last year because of you!
i love the way the trick sounds more than anything, just this faint “click” then “SLAM”, but the air time is what really seals it together. magnificent

just got my nephew a board for his birthday. and one for me too :) my first setup in over 20 years. I was really shocked at how much i was able to do. Thanks for making me think about skateboards all the time again.
I'm with Aaron. I think Nigel does the "proper" hard flip. That is to say that it exemplifies how the trick was conceived. The other version, however, looks a lot cleaner. I'd almost argue that they're different tricks like how a dolphin flip is a version of the varial kickflip so to is the vertical hardflip a version of the hardflip
I literally within five minutes of watching the video, never having tried hard flips, landed one with my front foot and the back close. Thank you for the amazing tutorial!
I skated just about every day from 4yrs old to 34 yrs old…. Had impossibles, anti Caspers, and many of the basics but could never get the hard flip. Just getting back into skating at 39 years old, about to land this trick today. Thanks for the tutorial bro, I really appreciate what you do.
Thanks Aaron! Great vid. Been struggling with learning new moves lol
Stomping hard flips have gotta be the most satisfying trick! Nigels hard flips are siiick, I could never do that style. I like Aaron’s and Uzi’s are 🔥🔥🔥
I'm after learning sooooo many different tricks over the years from these guys
what a great tutorial, thanks Aaron! Looks like Nigel puts his front foot out of the way by quickly moving it forward! fast feet work
These videos are what Braille was about! This is why I watch!
Hi braille i just wanna say ur the best and thanks to u ive learned a lot of tricks and keep it up and u guys are awsome
I have literally done one hardflip in my life about 9 months ago, i think i am going to practice them this summer for sure
literally love aaron kyro
im using these tips for inward heels and it works so well. the bend the back knee instead of “jumping” was the light bulb for me
Landed my first two tre flips yesterday after 3 weeks of practicing. Best feeling in the world
this man flicks downnnnn its crazy but i luv the motion... u guys are the best
thanks Aaron & Braille Team for breaking it down. Next trick to learn
I been a fan of Braille for 5 years 🤝 learned alot✊
Whoever’s idea it was to do the Varial heelflip & Hardflip tutorial this past week...... I salute you! The 2 tricks I’ve really been trying to get down past few weeks! It was meant to be! I can heelflip well, as can I varial Kflip. But varial heels and hard flips just elude me! But I’ve defo improved with these vids!
no one: youtube algorithm: have you landed that hardflip yet? or do you need some _advice_
Nigel's hardflips are amazing.
Life saver all of the info helped and actually was interesting to watch
I landed my first hardflip yesterday and I'm watching to improve them
I started skateboarding yesterday- i didnt know we had a skateboard but then i found it aaaaaaaaaand i started searhing on HOW TO SKATEBOARD. Ive only been watching you:) Im Your New subscriber!!
It’s essentially a frontside slanted varial... but I’m pretty sure the hardflip began without the slant. Around late 90s - 2000 is when I could do hard flips as a teen and I never had another friend who could do them back then. Hard flips used to be hard back in the day. But Aaron makes it look like an easy flip. I get nostalgia over the muska flip, I never see anyone frontside flip that way. Also, before the KZread days with tutorials and whatnot I had to go through excruciating credit cards to learn the hardflip. Love the vids Braille. 👍
The way you do it is the illusion flip version, Love those and inward heels like that.
This looks so much fun
Hello!!! I just subbed yesterday but I love your videos and I'm getting a skateboard like tmrw
I appreciate the motivation Aaron i actually feel like i can go do this now but i still dont have front pops i need to spend the day learning those cause i have backside pops front 180s kickflips heelflips down and varial flips but idk for some reason frontside pop shove its are really hard
Aaron, you made me get a skateboard. thank you.
Much love and respect to you and your channel. I hope that all is well for you and your family and friends.

Just learnt these! Feels great 🙌
Thanks man I got it first day no cap. I already had my kick and Shuv so that’s why
tnx for this! I think im gonna learn this trick❤
When you said skating is 90% mental, i totally agree. A day i practiced tres and switch flips, i landed 5 tres and started to get the hang of the flick done switch, fatiguing a lot. The next morning i went with my skate friend for a sesh and landed 25 clean tres and my first switch flip, which i started practicing the day before only knowing how to do a proper switch ollie
I relearn hardflips today I used to be able to do them 5 months ago and I landed at least 5 today THANK YOU!!!!
I been trying to learn that for so long finally I get a video to learn how to do a hard flip 😭😭
So cool how your pups just hang out there!

Verry nice keep it up love ur vids
A lot of the time when I try to do a kick flip I accidentally preform a hard flip but I haven’t landed them. Thanks for this one!
Hard flips are actually my favorite trick lol I love the trick
I too love the horizontal looking hardflips. I know you want the Herman style A.K., but yours are super vertical. That front facing shot shows it the best. I have yet to land one, so def no hate.
Thanks for this Aaron - a little more slow mo from a few more angles would help. I’ve landed a few hard flips recently but not consistently. The only way I can get the right motion is by hanging my back toes off with heavy pressure on the back foot (like a trey) and using a sideways flick with the front foot. For some reason putting my back foot where you do it just doesn’t produce the rotation at all... but you make it look effortless. I think the hardest part of the hardflip is that there are like 5 different ways
Explaining where the pressure goes was the most helpful. Adding proper high fps slowmo to that would be even better. At full speed its over before you can look at it :P
2:25 I could never (and still cannot) land a pop shuvit and yet Varial flips and 360 flips were second nature for me when I was younger.

👍🏻🔥keep up the work
The real story of this video, Blue wants Aaron to throw the football a 2nd time, but he doesn't. Ollie challenges Blue for the ball starting around 2:26, and completely gives up to nap by 5:12. Asleep by 7:05. Aaron steps on the board to demonstrate at 7:45.
Picked up the board again last weekend, after 5 years hiatus. I used to do hard flips the same as dude at the end, this time I want to relearn them the more vertical way. I just think they look so much better imo. I just need to relearn kickflips first 😂✌🏻
K, thank you for pointing out the difference between a varial flip and a hardflip.

Can you guys put two strong magnets on the bottom side of the board where the feet are generally placed and put smaller magnets inside the shoes? Imagine using the opposite force from the magnets during a kick flip to make the bird rotate faster. So many possibilities

NICE ONE! What you mentioned, and the variations of it would make great video. Imagine a game of skate where the magnets on the board and the shoes were both negative.. or both positive!! Opposites attract and same poles repel. So lets up the stakes and make both shoes and board the same polarity. That would make the most basic tricks hard.. what a watch/match that would be!! PLEASE DO THIS

Garfield all Day Its kinda crazy when you have two magnets the opposite way and try to connect them and there’s like an invisible force that makes it hard, it’s called repulsion. Anyway you’d need very strong magnets in order to go through a shoe and through a skateboard. I’d love to see it but don’t think it’s possible. I’m no expert anyway so I wouldn’t know lol
