    Thank you! Much appreciated. I am a complete newbie to this and really look to learn more about the more advanced tweaking and trimming of slot cars. Your level of detail and explanation is perfect. In one of your videos you started off by saying something like “Like any self respecting man child…”. That’s when I subscribed 😉 it could be your channel tagline/motto 😂

    Nice video! Most of the noise after lapping is the wheels, which need to be trued, the wobbling is clearly visible at there low rpm.

    I know, it was only a video about lapping gears, not wheels or tyres. I have this video about wheels and tyres. Also this car was brand new out the box, so no other work had been done to it other than the gears. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jHWrq6-AhaateLw.html

    @@SwiftSlots what would you recommend for nylon pinion and crown?

  • @SwiftSlots

    @SwiftSlots

    3 ай бұрын

    @@IrrerasCarrera If your Nylon gears need bedding in, I'd suggest coming down 1 tooth on the pinion and using a brass one. Sometimes brass pinions have thinner teeth than nylon, so just swapping to brass solves to issue. Always best to fix a 'tight' mesh than wear it in. Lapping in is really only for the final smooth running. Try the gear swap first.

    Excellent video very easy to follow for less experienced sloters,its interesting you,ve chosen a drive shaft to rear wheeled car,i have found over the years that the springs are too stiff which increases noise and vibration,i replace theses steel coils with silicone tubing,the difference is quite amazing,takes some experimenting,but worth the trouble.do this simple upgrade then check for noise.if you still need to grind your gears have at it.

  • @SwiftSlots

    I used that car as that was what came to hand first that sounded bad. I don't understand this drive shaft issue, I have been slagged off on slot forum as well over the drive shaft. The drive train makes no difference to the process of gear grinding and the end result was indeed a much quieter running car, drive spring or not.

    Ha. Use a Hair Dryer or Heat Gun on Plastic Gears with Brass Pinion. Just wave it over two or three passes. Watch the revs rise, and the noise drop. You can connect a Multimeter up too if your that keen. Too easy.......Say thank you Scotty.

    What if I recommended that to a beginner and they got the gears and everything else too warm and warper/melted the whole chassis? Would they thank me for that? I know for a fact that not everybody has good control over tools and there would be some damage for somebody, paste is a safer option for most. If the gear is soft enough to reform, so will the chassis and bearing holders, you are walking a VERY fine line between a good result and disaster.

    How do i get a replacement rear axle for Carrera Go Dune Buggy 1/43 scale? i looked everywhere online and only found brushes, tires, and track guides...no axles.

  • @SwiftSlots

    @SwiftSlots

    7 ай бұрын

    I doubt you will find an axle. It's not hard to replace it with a larger one. Buy an axle with a Knurling in the middle like scalextric. Pull apart your bent Go axle and run a drill of the same size as your new axle through the gear, bearings and wheels, then just put it all back together. You just got to make sure the drill is the right size, so measure the axle with a digital caliper first and take your time to drill the holes slowly and square. Because the hole is already there, the drill will want to follow the hole anyway, so just be careful and you'll be fine, at the end you'll have a stronger axle. If it all goes wrong, you can replace the whole lot with standard 2.38mm Slot-it parts 😁
