    Great to know that you can swap out if you really need to. I’ve not found this to be an issue with my Revoslot cars so far as you can move the motor screws that attach the motor to the chassis.

    yes you can move the motor, but some gears can have tight spots that means the mesh can be slack at one point to get over the tight spot. metal gears fixes all that. Also, some Revo gears have been known to split.

    Hi Rob, another great vid. I would be interested in seeing what/how you manipulated the reamer. Thanks Ron

    Yes, it opens up lots of options, just remember to buy one that is good enough quality for the job, keep your tools sharp and take light cuts 🙂

    I did wonder... now I know, if I go for this I'll need 8 (at present) , be nice if PSR could ship them with the cars when I order them

    Excellent content Rob and a great presentation. It would have been good to actually hear the difference after the modifications compared to the sound before the modifications. Keep up the good work, I am positively spellbound. 😁

    Thanks, That chassis is brand new and has not been fully finished yet, but there are plenty of videos showing how noisy Revo's can be. Once this McLaren is fully finished, it will be going on Crow Valley anyway for a run, so I'll make sure there is a section in that video where you can hear the run. I know it'll not be a 'side by side', but I can compare it to a Revo Alfa Romeo GTA and 911.

    Rob, did you notice any performance increase? Smoother gear mesh? Quieter car? Thanks for your help last week. I appreciate it.

    Hi Marty, I've not done anything with that chassis other than what you see on the video. The chassis has gone back into the tub with the body waiting for the project to be finished off after the Midget build. I can tell you the gears run super smooth and NSR cars run VERY well as you know. So I can't see any reason why the Revo chassis will not be smooth and quieter. There is one trick I will be doing on my/a Revo to help with the noise, but I will be doing that in a video coming soon (ish). Just fit a set mate, you can't go wrong. I can ream out a gear for you if you get Pendle to send me a set and I'll send them over. The point of the video was to prove NSR gears fit.

    Great video Rob. I don't know how they make (cookie cutter press?) these gears in the first place but what's to stop going the whole hog and having these ready made. Otherwise, yes, Revo has done one ratio and so there is a market for these given how popular the brand has become. I imagine that with like for like this mod will not change the speed or performance of the car and it would otherwise be interesting to hear what it sounds like when all put back together?

    Yes, that was the plan, keep it standard for now so I know what is what. Once the car is finished, it will go on Crow Valley for a run, I'll report on how it sounds as well 🙂 They do these gears in many ratios, so you can mix it up a bit.

    Hi Rob, great video as ever. I’ve not had issues with my 3 (so far!) Revo’s so I’ve not followed the chat. PSR does sell a BRM/Revo aluminium alloy 33t anglewinder gear which will come ready for a 3mm axle (part S-419a - the ‘a’ is important), so I’d be interested to know why you didn’t go for one of those. Is it because with your method (and service) you’d have a wider choice of tooth numbers for the gears? Or is it just that NSR seems to make the quietest gear sets in the slot world? Thanks again, always interesting and entertaining.

  • @SwiftSlots

    @SwiftSlots

    Ай бұрын

    Great question. The BRM gear is 12.4mm diameter, the Revo gear is 17.5mm, (NSR is 16.5mm so close enough) so the gearing will be off even though the BRM is still 33T. Also, BRM only offer one gear, so that limits options when stocks are empty in shops. Going with NSR means you have many gear options, high quality, good stocks, better mesh and quieter. 😀

    Acknowledging it was not your objective, could one not replace the bearings or insert a sleeve, in order to accept a 2.37/2.38mm axle (and new wheels and tires, of course 😔)?

  • @SwiftSlots

    @SwiftSlots

    Ай бұрын

    As you said, just replacing the gear and pinion is a better option than replacing everything AND having to make a set if custom bearing sleeves. The cost of a gear set is about £10, replacing everything aftermarket is almost half the cost of the car!
