Here is my rant! After owning at least 37 cars and trucks over my life I think I can speak on this subject to anyone who own's or is thinking of getting a V8 Tundra. I have had 3 trucks in the past five years all of them new or with just a few thousand miles on them. These are just the last three Silverado Transmission shudder that could not be fixed by dealer dumped it. Second truck GMC total power steering failure a HWY speed not fun! Then again transmission shutter no fix at dealer dumped that one. Lets try a Ford, 2019 Raptor 11,000 miles cam phaser rattle. Dealer wanted to rip apart the motor and replace the cam phaser with the same defective ones. No thanks dumped it. Notice a pattern here all POS newer trucks. So when I retired I threw in the towel bought a 2021 last year V8 Tundra 1794 TRD Off Road and all we do is oil changes. Took many trips I can live with the 15 mpg average as long as I don't have to listen to some service adviser giving a line of $h!t on why my new truck is a total POS and have to learn to live with it. I believe that in a few years 2nd gen Tundras will go down in history as the LAST reliable trucks ever made. So while your at the gas pump bitching just remember the gas pump isn't giving a line of $h!t why your truck is broken!

The fact is, these Fuel Injected vehicles suck compared to carburetor engines. Too much techie garbage. Today's vehicles are built with cheap tin, aluminum, plastics, glass, and a steel box frame. Very high priced as if 1 Airbag deploys the Insurance Company deems it totaled. Fixing any body damage costs Thousands of dollars. Auto Mfr. and Auto Ins. scam or in cahoots to shaft over the people for profits. Cannot work on them, need special diagnostic equipment and special tools, have no repair manual, or know the specifications. I'm nearly happier with a pre-1990s vehicle. (later 1950s to 1990)

I've often said that it doesn't matter what brand you drive, it will cost the same in the end. A domestic truck may have a lower MSRP and/or better fuel economy, but more frequent repairs and downtime. If someone wants a truck that won't be great on fuel but keeps you out of the mechanic shop (assuming maintenance is kept up), Toyota is the way to go. A Toyota is only as reliable as owner maintains it - and nothing is perfect!

My 2021 Toyota Tundra Double Cab 5.7 RWD averages 13.65 MPG. However, each trip differs. The highest MPG I got on a trip was 24.8. It all depends on a cruising speed and acceleration. Whenever I drive on freeway with 55-65 mph, the MPG can be easily within 21- 24 mpg. The maximum tank average I got was 19.5 MPG. I never did 100% city driving but I assume in stop and go mode it will average around 8-10 MPG for sure. It is thirsty indeed. By the way, just filled my truck at Costco gas station with 31.9 gallons an it was 600 miles on trip odometer. So, this time my tanks average was 18.8 MPG. And I did have lots of city driving, stayed in traffic, and maintained cruising speeds on freeway between 55-65 mph. Not bad I must say taking into account that 2,4-2,5 sedans that were made in 2005-2010 would usually average 22-24 mgp in the same driving conditions. But I must also admit when it is 50/50 city and highway, and on highway the speed is around 75-80 mph, then tank average drops to 13 MPG indeed.

Toyota MPG ratings are based on ideal conditions or as tested on the pedalstol/ engine platform. All automotive manufacturers lie about City and Highway MPG. My 2023 Camry XSE V6 window sticker 22 City/ 32 Highway. I get 18 City and 24 Highway as the average is about 21 MPG, not 26 MPG. Michelin CrossClimate 2. Had a 2018 RAV4 Limited AWD ... 15 City and 21 Highway. Do not have the RAV4 anymore. Toyota miles per gallon suxs. Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3. Wife has 2022 Civic Touring and gets average 22 MPG ... more poor MPG. Goodyear Eagle Sport AS.

While I do travel a lot for work in Oil industry to remote location, it’s imperative to drive a reliable vehicle in these backwoods of Louisiana and Texas! Never had a truck issue besides TPMS sensor had replaced besides that, oil changes and new tires…Currently @103k and looking to soon replace with a TRD pro with lower mileage 2nd Gen off course! 🍻🫡

2021 I’m getting 12.3 city and 15.4 highway at 70 MPH. Definitely not what the sticker originally said

You got that right, but at least we got lots of room for stuff and lots of power.

I made the decision that the reliability of the Tundra and the eventual resale value (over 200K miles) is worth the sacrifice in the gas mileage. I find many agree

Dam thats horrible, I have a 2021 with 35s and I still get 14 mpg highway. It's down from the usual 15 to 16 due to adding a roof rack. I know it will be better once I remove that Giant wind sail roof basket. Even stock my tundra would get 17 to 18 easily. I'm surprised with a 2 inch lift and 35s I'm still in the high 14s to low 15s.

Did he really say colder air is LESS dense? 👎🏻

I meant more dense but you can't correct the video after upload. If you replace the video the algorithm gets all jacked up.
