2018 Toyota Tundra 5.7L 4X4 Highway MPG loop. Better than you would think! Tundra Miles Per Gallon

Here is my Miles per Gallon (MPG) loop in my 2018 Toyota Tundra sr5 Crewmax Sport 4x4 with the 5.7 Liter v8.
This truck normally gets around 13.5MPG, but when i drove the truck at a constant speed of 70mph i got 16.778 MPG. That isnt bad at all for such a large capable vehicle.
Toyota Tundra owner for life here! I love the truck, i love the way it drives, the way it looks and the way it sounds. The reliability and resale value are just bonuses.

My 2017 TRD 4x4 5.7 FF with a S&B cold air intake and a bullydog tune on 91 I average 20 - 21mpg on my commute to work. Relatively flat roads, 50-55bmph for first 1/3 , 75-80mph 2nd 1/3 and 50ish last 3rd of the trip. Flat Arizona roads driving conservative. It seems like anything over 75mph and these trucks just start sucking down the fuel. My best commute was 22mpg. I usually drive with tow haul on as well. If anyone cares to know.

As long as the roads are fairly flat, mpg isn't too bad. I drove my purchase Tundra from Hartford, CT to MN. Through hilly NY and PA, i got 16ish mpg, through OH and IN, i got 18ish because of flatter roads. Highway speeds around 70mph.

Yeah, it's so difficult to stay off the gas though, love that v8 rumble. I might try the test next time at 65mph and see what the results are. 18mpg you say? What kind of speeds were you doing to achieve those results?

I've always tracked my mpg's very closely on my vehicles every fillup. I have a 2018 CRV that shows a computed mpg on the dash. I was always skeptical of it, but over time I've become confident in it. Probably the reason what you calculated is a bit less than what the truck says is due to when the truck is calculating it the time you are sitting in stop lights and not moving is not considered. The truck is calculating amount of fuel used during movement and what you manually count included the fuel usage when not moving.

I have a 2020 Tundra crewmax 4x4, 20 inch wheels 275 wide by 70 tall. On 87 octane, hilly terrain with about an hour of flat driving at 64mph I was getting 16.2mpg. Best I’ve got is 18.2. I only drive it about 100-200 miles a month though.

Ill get 19-20 if I really keep my foot under control. Like really letting off a bit on hills and such. If i just drive without thinking I get around 15-16 with a 60/40 mix of city highway. I did a 250 mile loop yesterday. The first half was unloaded just me and the family and got 19.6. Then we picked up and loaded a uhaul trailer(maybe2500lbs) with some idling and such and when I got home it said 16.5. Not too bad

I recently bought a 2016 SR5 4WD DC. I have the original tire size. I did my first test for all-town driving (many suburban traffic lights and no freeway). I drove like an old lady with a very light foot because I wanted to see how good I could get. The dash gauge said 12.0 MPG, but I did the math ... 10.75! Luckily, I have a small Mazda for around-town driving. I'll be taking a road trip in a few months with 400 miles of all freeway. I will only drive 60 MPH. This fugger better get at least 15 MPG, or I'll be seriously bummed. I knew the Tundra's gas mileage sucks, but not this bad. Every car/truck I've ever owned got what the sticker said it would get. This thing is supposed to be 13 in town and 17 on freeway.
