🏄 A BIT ABOUT ME ☕️
I don't call myself an author because I don’t believe in labels.
I believe that story is art - that it's sacred, and that it is and has always been a force that changes and shapes our world. That's why I write, and that's why I create videos (even co-produced an environmental film). I consider the world my home, and enjoy submerging in unique cultures nearly as much as I love submerging in the ocean and riding the waves. I am the author of the young adult urban fantasy series The Blood Race, and am currently working on several new series's. Though I can be hard to find, I am easy to reach (and very fun to talk to) at: kate@kaemmons.com

I've been decluttering slowly but when I hit a wall is with my family. Both, husband and son, like to collect things and they tend to "fill" the spaces I clear around the house. I managed to save "a corner" for my art but I would like it a bit bigger. Would be interested in boundary setting for this.

❤ of course You need some space, the question is what is going on below the surface. Many men today feel pressured into being tough, and while that can be fine as an element on its own, the question is whether they are conscious of it. Then when you go beneath the surface, the next next questions are whether they are doing it because they feel anxious about the future, or just neglecting taking care of their space because e.g. they have never trained a strong skill of keeping things in order, or they neglect it for some other reason, don't recognize the benefits, etc. Many things can come from the pressure from their environment. If possible, melt any fears with humour, and may You all be in Your decluttering journey optimistic together ❤ Wish You a lot of nice surprises, good mood, step by step progress, peaceful journey and a lot of space ❤

Embrace the tension of setting boundaries. Be okay with them feeling uncomfortable with your boundaries. Reasonable boundaries of course as your home is a shared space.

@@Rndm077s this was definitely missing from my writing, sorry! 🙏🏻 Yes, leave their responsibility to them. Well placed roles and responsibility should feel nourishing for everyone, and they build respect, cooperation and rapport. You can give someone the benefit of the doubt, but do it in a "obvious" way, to foster safety... and expect the same from them! Should they have unreasonable expectations about You, don't accept these and in a calm way extend the safety e.g. by saying that You also don't expect time-consuming things from them. Men often dislike being wrong 😂 or to be seen as irrational, so hopefully You can use that as well if needed, so they can save their face and so You can expect fairness from them. Don't know how much of a difference between you and them you're dealing with, but hopefully something helps. ❤️ Definitely treat Yourself fairly and appeal to ideals step by step, hopefully You can have some good rapport in no time.

This really resonated with me! I am in the middle of doing a whole-home decluttering and it's true there are objects that I do not use on a regular basis but are difficult to part with because of memories and emotional attachment connected to them. Thanks for sharing these great insights! You inspired me to keep going on my minimalist journey.

I'm more interested in your thoughts than minimalism. The weird part is I hate clutter with a fiery passion so I suppose I am a minimalist of a sort, just not to the extreme of choosing to live in a glorified closet.

Hi just wondering, how do I write a chapter if my character doesn't want to speak?

This is a great challenge. It's beautifully done in "The Silent Patient" by Alex Michaelides. They "speak" with their silence, their actions and reactions or the lack of both.

Thanks so much, I’m glad I’m not the only author out there going thru this.
