Given that everyone runs different systems and configs, I can understand that some users may have issues. I have an older HP Compaq Model AT492AV w/Windows 10 and had no problems following the reset. The vendor installer had full rights to my computer so I wanted to have full control. It took more than 20 minutes but if you are patient and careful, just follow the process. It works fine by me. In any case, it's always recommended to create a full backup when attempting to change ANYTHING in the system. This is just one of the few examples where it may cause a big issue.

Don't do that. It messes up with your windows files permission ( couldn't use my PIN anymore and windows was so buggy I had to format it. ) not a good idea.

This process broke windows for me. Even after retracing steps and reverting everything back to normal my computer was still fked up. I had to run a full reset and reinstall windows.

Guys don't do this. Don't do what this man is saying. I did this SAME thing and now I am suffering. Unfortunately, my WHOLE PC is now messed up. My desktop screen has become unfunctional (like some apps on the desktop does not open on clicking). I tried undoing all the permissions granted to C-drive, but, but, very unforrunately; after "right-clicking on C-drive" , and then clicking on "Properties", and then clicking on "edit" just above the permissions list, my PC gets hanged for more than 5mins and when I return to see what is left of it after that time, I become much agrieved to see that a dialogue box is being displayed which reads : "Unable tp open the permission granting box. Access is denied." Now, after this mishap, i tried to reset my PC by going to Settings>then Update and Security>then Recovery>then (the very first option of) 'Get Started'.......... But, very sadly after I press the 'Get Started' option of Resetting PC, the whole computer FREEZES AND LAGS (yes, again😥😭) like anything for 5mins straight after which 'Settings' closes by its own. Guys, its NEVER EVER a good idea to mess around with your C-drive, to change its PERMISSIONS or whatever. Its Never a good idea, Never. Don't mess with anything related to your C-drive guys, NEVER, PLEASE!

Unless you know exactly what you are doing, and what to do after to revert this, do not do this. This can break your windows install, and if you have a virus this essentially gives them the same access to your PC as an Admin.

People set to everyone, to re Include trusted installer with user and admin. Stuff won't run on c dive even if made by Microsoft if you change to user or admin only permissions.

Now I can download files to C or copy files to C, but still I can't create new files in root C... on subfolders it's fine, or on other drive, then I can copy to root C... It's annoying. I was doing many stuff, basically changing permissions on whole drive, it was taking long time, and constantly some alerts were prompting... Also I messed up something and my start bar was not responding after those permissions changes, so I had to restore system at one point... PAIN...

I just want everyone to know, that I did make this mistake and fall for this video, because youtube changed their shitty like system, so I didn't know this video was extremely hurtful, yes I f*cked my PC too from this video, the only fix is to factory reset it. GG you got me.

Next time, NEVER save to the root of your C drive. My mom did this a couple of months ago to her brand new laptop. Some other users could have access to her private information if she does share her laptop.
