Definitely should use z-bar and double beutle tape. Wouldn't have to cut the roof, would seal better long term, and no exposed fasteners, other than a couple rivets

If u run that’s flashing with z bar n sides and a cleat on the back and hook back panels on cleat and side flash on z-bar there ain’t no exposed screws

Same concept but you would have a wall to roof flashing on the low side of the chimney. If you have a lot of square footage of roof above the chimney I would recommend a cricket detail on the high side.

I am looking for someone to do this kind of work in western MA. The roofer installed my metal roof without flashing the chimney. He said he was going to come back, but never did. It is wrapped in plastic, but I can feel above the chimney that the wood is wet, up for quite a way above the chimney. We just had an ice storm here, maybe that caused an ice dam and the water ran up under the metal? I think my roof is the exact same product - it looks like Fabral. In any case I need my chimney flashed, and for a bunch of reasons I no longer trust my original roofer. If anyone reading this has any recommendations, please leave a comment.

Because most don't know how. It's easy to screw down some panels. Takes brains to flash and do detail work correct . Sorry bout your luck. Only if I lived closer.

why no cricket? snow would sit there with ice and caulk would fail?

It doesn't snow here. We have seen snow 3 times in the last 40 years and only one time did it stick.

Guys you put holes in your beautiful standing seam roof. 🙄 what’s the point of hidden fastener roofing if you put screws straight through it? 🤦🏻
