If you **lost all your game data** and want it back after restoring your ps4, please read this comment! Just thought I'd put this in the comment section of videos related to this issue of the "safe mode loop". If you have to choose option 6 or 7 in the safe mode menu after pressing and holding the power button until the second beep, and your angry and frustrated about losing all your data, (like I was) there is hope. Number 1, you have to remember your PSN login info which is your email and password in order to sign back into PSN. Once you do that, you regain minimal data, like games or game info, trophies, and a couple other things, that will either automatically start re-downloading or you may have to manually re-download the games. Either way, you will not get your saved game data back. But again, there is hope. Assuming you are a PS Plus member, and have been, follow these easy steps and you'll have all your saved data back in no time (assuming you had auto upload on 😅) So, 1. Go to the ps plus logo beside notifications on your home screen and select it. 2. Press up and scroll to the right to the " ••• More" option and hit X. 3. Choose " Cloud Storage". 4. Choose the second option, "Saved Data In Online Storage" 5. Select "Download to System Storage" You should then see a list of your games. You can either pick the ones you want one by one or select them all by pressing the options button on your controller and choose "Select Multiple Applications" then choose " Select All" to your right. You'll then be asked if you want to overwrite your saved data. Choose "Apply To All" and click yes if the online storage date is older then the date you restored your ps4 (that is your old saved data). In a few mins, all your saved data from those games will be restored to your internal system storage. Yes, all the data! Hope this helps many of you get your saved data back. God bless 🙏

I have another solution which worked for me. Keep in mind I have a ps4 slim. Okay so all I did was power off then remove the hard drive from the console. But not replace it. I just inserted it back in. And it got me out of safe mode. Hope this helps someone one out there.

So I unplugged the hard drive, gave it a little blow 😜 plugged that sucker back in, initialized the ps4 (option 6) and it worked for me. I have the original fat ps4. Not sure how long it’s gonna last because I got it to come out of the loop once before by just initializing after letting the ps4 sit and it froze again and started the loop after using it for a couple days. Could be the software for some of you but I think the hard drive is bugged and a new one could solve the problem

With mine I don’t even have access to any other option but reinstall system software but it says usb device not connected but the usb has the files on it and the software update and nothing works

3 to 5 just gives me the same software update as always i always need to do update 10.01 if i go into safe mode

I've had to initialize my PS4 once already a little over a year ago after a system update, lost all my saved games and one that I was close to finishing, and I thought I had fixed it after initializing then installing the new update from a USB stick. Now today out of the blue, it keeps saying "checking storage" and it completes the check, then I get a PS4 logo, then stuck on a black screen. I tried all options in safe mode, tried hooking it up to a different TV, no dice. I was just about to start paying for a PS4 account so I could back up my saved games also, but now I want to toss it out the window! Anybody know if I can pay for the service, and Sony might have my saved games? I almost think they're trying to make me buy a PS5 or something nefarious. Friends of mine have had older PS4's bricked. I'm going to try to clean the HD this time also if I have to initialize it again. If installing the newest update from a USB doesn't work, then I'm screwed. I had lost a ton of saved games the first time, and I was just getting close to finishing Far Cry 6, and had restarted RDR2 (after being on Epilogue 2 on my last saved game before initializing). This system sucks, it seems like a lot of people run into the same problems. Haven't heard about xbox issues though, but again, I have all my games that I would have to rebuy, and Ghosts of Tsushima was a PS only title I'll lose. I never had issues with my older Nintendo systems, they still work fine, even my Dreamcast works.

No matter what you press mine resets back to safe mode and the USB option had no effect and it would just reset to the safe mode setting every time I'd try to install the software from the USB my console is unfixable.

Spent the entire day stressing and doing every single solution i can find. Now i gotta initialize and if that don't work, replace internal hard drive and hopefully that fixes it or else gotta spend more money for repairs. Fuckin bullshit. Wonder how much of my data was saved on online storage with PS Plus, but i'm more mad ima lose all my capture gallery. Had some badass screenshots and vids on there.

@@dirtydan9153 that's what i thought too that being i had ps plus it would have backed up my stuff but only the games you stream from the cloud and it was only certain ones. Otherwise they used my hard drive to save the data. I have an external I use but unfortunately I can't transfer dave data to it, I've tried everything and only applications, like games etc. Can be saved to it. So frustrating to say the least. It makes me hesitant about getting into a game even... which I have now lol I just hopebit doesn't happen again otherwise yeah ill have to replace the hardrive or buy a ps5. I usually like to wait a couple years to buy a new system. 1 get the most use out of what I have because they still release games for it. And 2 they get cheaper. 3 they get bugs and kinks like this kind of thing figured out more often than not so instead of paying 600$ ill pay 200$ for a better product with more games. But I understand the people that wait in line to get one. The thought of a new console is a rare experience and fun

You lose save data but your games still there to download

I just had 4 to 5 different error codes in the span of 5 minutes. It would not let me get past the checking system thing on startup after a while. I had to resort to initialization.

So I got one and my PS4 works great! It’s not that hard to install either

can someone help me out. i have tested options 1-5. and when the ps4 restarts my tv stays on a black screen and the blue lights keeps lighting up and dimming down. i have tested the HDMI cable on other devices and it works fine. i tried a new HDMI cable and still nothing. i tried on a new tv and still nothing.

@@amerai8160 honestly the only why I got it fixed was I had to take to an electronic shop and got it repaired cost me 60 bucks, I contacted sony and the only thing they could do was send me a link to get it shipped to be repaired but the cost was 137 dollars

I used the USB, the console says that it doesn’t find the update, and the ps4 restarts. There is no display and the light is blue on the console, does this mean that the ps4 is reading the usb? (Also the usb is on)
