I always use oils after every shower. That saved me from losing all my hair a few days ago. Also hair masks once or twice a week and I don't shower it every day. I clean my hair every other day or every third day since water dries and damages the hair.

I agree. Not every salon - but far too many. If you're paying big $$ - there is no excuse. If they can't get you to a lighter colour without extensive damage, they should refuse to proceed or at the very least, explain the risks in detail. I paid $340 to have my hair melted some years ago. Literally melted. I grew it out and decided to never trust a hairdresser again. I learned to foil my own hair and have never once damaged it. This with no formal qualifications whatsoever.

This is a message to everyone who straightens their hair every day or most days a week! I have naturally curly hair and I never appreciated it up until now. It never used to bother me when I was under the age of 11, but it was when I hit high school I started to like the straight haired look as all the “pretty girls”of the school had poker straight hair. So I began straightening my hair a few times a week at first using heat protectant spray and it progressed into not using this spray out of laziness and I also began straightening my hair every day. It’s been about a year and a half since I started straightening daily and I didn’t notice my hear becoming heat damaged and becoming extremely dry at the ends. Lately I’ve had my friends and family ask why I’ve done this to my hair and not having my natural hair which was taken for granted by myself. I thoroughly regret straightening my hair so much as it’s resulted in dry, dull, straw like hair and it looks horrible on the ends curly and straightened. I tried using coconut oil before washing my hair (I wash mine once a week sometimes twice) and it has added some moisture into my hair but it hasn’t made my hair the same as it used to be. I strongly advise using a LOW heated iron on your hair and use a powerful protectant spray at all times also not to straighten it more than once or twice a week! I’m going to the hairdressers in 5 days to cut about 2 inches off to get rid of my split ends and dryness. I have learned my lesson with straightening my hair and when I get it cut I will reduce my straightening to once a week and enjoy the natural hair god gave me. I hope everyone who reads this takes my advice and be careful ❤️

You probably have your own hair method now that it has been 6 months but in case you are struggling, I also have naturally curly hair and I fried it by straightening it and dyeing it all of the time. The past 2 years (after getting a good 4 inches chopped) I npw only straighten my hair maybe 3 times a month and all other days I use a curl defining cream while my hair is still damp right after the shower and let it air dry. If you find a good cream it shpuld be light weight and wont feel like you have anything in your hair while giving your natural curl some definition and structure. My haor is a million times healthier and I love my hair again.

I have a messed up combination of hair. My hair is thin and curly and I have to wash it everyday or every other day if I'm not doing anything that next day. My hair is super dry and if I don't wash it, it feels disgusting. Also because my hair is thin my curly hair does not last through the night so I have to wash it to bring back the curls. It is damaged from dyeing it.

Try just washing your scalp, the shampoo running down will clean the ends just fine. Then just condition the ends(pull hair into a ponytail and just condition the ponytail part.) My hair would get nasty oily every few days until I started doing this. After about a month, I could get away with washing it once a week. I don't use styling products, though.

My hair grows literally 3 cm every month just doing those: 1. I wash it every four days 2. I wash it with cold water (at first it was hard but I'm now used to it) 3. I massage it, doing only one hand of shampoo in the roots and let the water fall at the rest of it 4. I leave the conditioner right after the shampoo for like a minute and then rinse 5. I wait for it to kind of dry in the towler 6. I brush it then starting from the tips and slowly up 7. And just let it air dry naturally 8. I always wear my hair down, as it is a good hairstyle to avoid root breakage *few days of washing, protective hairstyles, no heat* 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

I tried the egg+ plain Greek yogurt+ honey+ mayo+ olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, almond oil....mixed it into a small jar, lathered it into my hair & left it on overnight wrapped in a plastic bag. A girl at school told me to try it, sounded gross but her hair looked so soft & shiny & I was desperate after having been bleaching, coloring, & heat styling for ages. I honestly had the softest hair after applying the mixture, it felt sooo baby soft. I couldn't stop touching it & asking people to touch it too cuz it felt unreal. I went from "no one has to kno what I'm lathering into my hair" embarrassed to "look! touch it! touch it!" telling everybody. For the first time I could run my fingers thru it & that felt glorious. I recommend giving it a try, worst outcome could be that u wash it off & your hair doesn't feel any different. Anyone who tries it let me how it went for u, I'd love to hear about it.

Fun fact about coconut oil is it melts in your hand almost instantly, so having to heat it up with something else is really unecessary and a waste of clean dishes. But hey you wanna be fancy then by George you get fancy! Also you can get coconut oil at the grocery which is cheaper. Got a big tub of it at a Kroger for 5 bucks lol. Lasts me for 4 -5 Months.

I used to have extremely thick hair, but I got about four handfuls and a brush full when I bleached it and it was over processed. Going 'no-poo' for about three months helped A LOT. I've gone back to washing and it's getting way healthier than it used to be. SKIP THE EXTENSIONS! I had to shave a portion of my head because of an extension malfunction.

see, i always had the opposite effect. dying it myself never ever damaged my hair. I had healthy hair even though I dyed it all the time. but the one time I got my hair done professionally, it got damaged so bad. it felt like barbie doll hair, and it tangled just as bad as doll hair. it was horrible. so once it grew out a bit I cut the damaged ends and started using the ogx keratin shampoo and it brought my hair back to life. hair masks have done nothing good for my hair. everytime I use them it makes my hair dull and lifeless and just god awful. so, I dye it myself again and I use a color protective conditioner in the dye when I apply it. it helps alot. the ogx keratin shampoo was just at walmart and is like $5 for the small bottles, and I think like $10 for the big bottles. I always use a heat protectant. I just know my hair very well, and I do what's best for it from my experience.

I have used suave, Garnier, herbal essences, etc. anything that says color protection. also I use a color protective dry shampoo in between washes. I know herbal essences has one that I use. hope that helps! look on the back labels and look from something that's sulfate free that helps as well. I didn't believe it until I saw the difference for myself. your hair won't fade as fast.

Back in January, my hair was 20 inches long. I had a few layers and my hair is a natural soft kinda wave. Jan 20, I cut my hair in a bob in 10 inches! (10inch cut off omg lol) But it still didn't feel as healthy as it could be as a few years back I had soft bleach streaks. April 9, I shaved. it. all. off. :D I had hair shorter than an inch and everybody said I pulled it off (i was so relieved they said this tho, I was scared if my head shape didn't work out with a shaved head) but I had a happy time growing it out. It's December and my hair is now almost 5 inches long (almost all around, it's growing out in layers so I'm currently trying to even it out!) Geez I remember when I had 20 inch long hair and the underside of it was so curly (like, ACTUALLY CURLY) and frizzy and damaged (split end central oml). I didn't have patience with doing products to try and heal the bleach, I wanted it gone lol.

Linn Karlsson i've literally been in this situation and went through like 5-6 olaplex treatments. yes, olaplex will make it feel softer, but it will still end up feeling like a soft lump of chewing gum when it's wet....and it will still break off like grass when it's dry. I literally had to chop off all the hair and ended up wasting my money on olaplex treatments. Trust me, hair will grown back, but hay-hair isn't cute. What sucks is that I have naturally curly, coarse, frizzy hair. I decided to bleach it twice with a 4 month gap in between and omg.... my hair looked EXTREMELY dry, frizzy, and was falling off like crazy in the shower! My hair stylist cut off 3 inches of my hair and put a Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Keratin Intensive treatment in it. It made a HUGE difference but a week later my hair started looking dry and frizzy again (way less than how it looked before the cut and keratin treatment though). So I purchased this IC Hair Polisher Aloe Vera and Miracle 10 Keratin leave in Spray. And I put argan oil in my hair now too. My hair looks SO MUCH BETTER!!! I also use a Hask Argan Oil mask in my hair once a week now. All of this saved my hair!
