As a seasoned at home colorist, I thought I knew at least the basics very well. Nope, there IS a reason why professionals go to school! Thank you for this video ❤️
This is so informative, you made color so easy to understand. I’d feel so confident going into Sally’s now! 😊 Thanks Sam! I love that your uploading so much! Hope your doing well, you are glowing and look so happy! ❤️

So glad to hear that! I tried to explain the best I could, but it's a tricky thing to teach in just one video. Thank you :)
Phew! That was A LOT! THANK YOU!!! I felt so unsure lightening my hair but now I feel much better about it. Thank you for taking your time to explain all of that to us!
Straightforward, detailed, yet not confusing and overwhelming on all the info!!! Thank youuuuu
Girl this helped me so much, I work at Sally’s and needed a lot of help of trying to explain to people about what to use
The basics you covered is way more than other videos I've seen as well as very informative and instructional. LOVE IT!
Thank-you!! This was so comprehensive! You did a GREAT job answering all of the questions that have been swirling around my colored head of hair!
Wow! You nailed it! As an educator, I am truly impressed by how well you explained everything in such an organized manner! Well done! 🎉
You did a wonderful job with just enough detail and anyone who pays attention and listens to this is now more informed. I really love this video. These are things I learned in school and wish everyone could know before they go mess with their hair and chemicals on them. No judgement, simply best to do a little research and you just made that a little more accessible 😊❤
Wow! Super impressed by how well you articulate your knowledge and understanding of hair color care! Thank you for sharing this
I've been blonde off and on for 30 years. Always did it myself and this video was so very informative! I now have a better understanding of the process. Thank you so very much!
Sam you always explain things so wonderfully it's always a pleasure to see you thank you so much 💜
Best video I have seen as far as it comes to coloring hair and theory! Answered all my questions and helped me connect the dots
Gurl!!! I have been in beauty school for the last year and you have taught me more about this topic than I have ever been taught in school! Thank you so much for enlightening me! Wishing you all the best!

If you went to beauty school and I am certified as well.. you would know Sally’s products are bad for you. When you have your license there hair supply stores just for people with license and not to the public that have actual good dye , bleaches , and other products. Sally’s bleached literally made my hair smoke almost on fire and burned it on.

@@thesoudersfamily5007 so true, I love love love Goldwell period. I think it’s one of the best chemically speaking. None of the metals and salts which build over time and destroy the cuticle thus weakening the hair shaft.

Same! She explained it so simple, school confused me
im LOVING the Constant videos back to back!! 🙌🏻
Great video! You did a good job at breaking down the different types of dyes, developers, and benefits! Thank you for sharing ❤
You are a very good communicator. This is SO educational and helpful.
Super job! Very impressive. Detailed but not too long. Lots of valuable info. ❤Keep posting!!❤
Wow! Thank you, thank you THANK YOU!!!! If I could hug you through the screen, I would! So informative! You answered SO many of my questions that came to mind when watching others' videos but they never quite answered. (God bless them. No hate!) As a newbie at-home colorer, (we can thank the economy for this) I don't know much so I do what I do best: RESEARCH. I know enough to proceed with GREAT caution and that being as well informed as possible is key. Unless you're willing to cut it all off if it doesn't work, you don't want to risk your hair over it. I've sported a cute, pixie cut with sassy 1" bangs for almost 35 years. It looks GREAT on me - but it was time: I've been growing it out for 2 years now (with frequent trims) and now it's almost to my shoulder. I'm 53. Gray hairs are definitely an issue - but I DON'T want flat, dull, all one color box dye-colored hair. Obviously, No matter what I do at home, it won't look like I have professional, tri-colored, foiled hair. I understand (and TOTALLY believe) that the SAFEST way to color your hair is in the hands of a professional stylist. But I JUST can't afford it anymore. So, thank you for a.) explaining things [basic stuff - I know theres a WHOLE lot more to it] clearly, b.) speaking to your audience like we're smart. It IS chemistry...that one preforms on on top of her head! Any woman, 15 or 50 needs to be careful! But with proper instruction and care from research, we DON'T have to LOOK as broke as we are! (lol!)
This video is detailed and yet very easy to follow. I can tell you are a professional and an instructor. I am going to save this video and share it with my sisters. The biggest take away for me is where to apply the product if you are going darker or lighter. I was taking notes as if I was taking a test afterwards. Thank you for all of this free information. Blessings to you and your platform. Necee
Wow! Thank you SO MUCH! Extremely helpful! I’ve been dying my own hair for the last few years and Sally’s became my best friend 🤣
This was SO helpful for learning the terms to use and the products to look for. I'm a bare beginner having a midlife crisis (hair color heals the soul, amirite?), and I want to avoid frying my hair with impulsive dye moves. This information will really help.
Finally I found someone who totally educated! Love ya gal!
You are a real one for this. ❤️ That was super informative. Yes, you *should* go to a professional if you are able, but that's a luxury that isn't accessible to everyone. Maybe this is a chronically online take, but it seems classist to shame someone for for doing their own hair, and I think a lot of stylists need to be more understanding. Same with shaming people who aren't using salon grade products. If you're spending $60 on your hair every 4-6 weeks and $40 on your shampoo and conditioner, that adds up. Anyway, that's my soapbox rant. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Very impressive video. Just what I was looking for! Thank you for sharing your knowledge💕
I can tell you 100% Ion runs a lot darker than the swatches show. You def want to go 2 shades lighter. If you go for browns it will turn out black! I’m warning you

What an extremely helpful , well explained video. Thank you so much ❤
Good video. Im 61, and color my roots dark blonde every 3 and a half weeks. I never run the color through the hair, only the roots. Sally permanent color makes my hair incredibly shiny.
Thank you so much for your video! I wanted to cover my brassy highlights and made the spontaneous decision to color my hair myself. I did not have any prior knowledge of hair color and decided to use KZread to educate myself. I came across your video and it just made sense the way you explained everything. I’m very happy with how my hair came out. I do have a question…I’ve noticed that the ends of my hair came out a lot darker than my roots. I wanted to know what I can do next time to prevent this. I had light brown highlights and my roots were my natural black hair. I used the ion medium ash brown (4A). Thank you! 😊
This was so helpful, you should start a series 😍
Very good information! I learned a lot from you in this one :) thanks, Sam!
You broke it down soooo easily. So much more than one would ever think, at least an everyday person like me.
Thank you so much! I’m trying to dye my daughters hair on a budget and this is all great info! Definitely liked and subscribed
Wow. What an amazing way to explain hair colouring. Well done
Omgg i love you!!! Just what I needed! So informative, thank you, thank you , thank you!!
Omg it’s like you read my mind lol. I’ve been thinking of dying my hair and woke up to this video, now I’m a little more confident
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!! I needed this!!
Thank you for such a helpful video!! Since the cost of going to a salon is just rediculous, I've taken a stab at dying my hair at home and definitely going to use your tips next time!!
So informative! Wish I saw this before trying to use wella 28 with the 20 developer to tone my hair, it did nothing but lighten my roots LOL. gonna try ion since I can actually tell what levels their colors are at haha.
Great class! Thanks for reminding us to hit the like button 🥰
Should’ve watched this before I went to Sally’s ❤️ but I did good on my green from pink 🥰 thank you Sam!!!
Best smartest video I seen!!! And I have seen so many! She knows HER STUFF ❤😊 #thankyou
I’ve been trying to figure out the difference of Demi and semi for so long! Thank you for explaining it! Ps: you’re so beautiful!
Amazing job ! After being bleach blondd most my life last 10 years just bayalage and foilayage but AKWAYS brightest ash blonde! I'm now looking to tone down my blonde, doing a retouch 1st ,( roots super dark) then going in with a 6N &7A demi for a root smudge then I'm thinking to use a 7NA&9V to put on all bright blonde. Except front pcs. Idk I'm PRAYING this will work ( gonna do some test strand) hoping I'm not gonna go green or muddy.. hair gods B with me ! Been binging your videos!! Love your color and I'm only wanting a lil lighter than yours now. My natrual is a 6 ? I think and I have 20% greys in front. So using 20 vol with root smudge.. bug 10 vol on mids etc, have my supplies. Cant get any other colors rn. They had a W .. so after test strand I may need to grab one. Ig with darkest color . Igh I think I'm over complicating it for myself !! I do want light ends and money pc I have the 9V for that. Also ofcorse other tonor a T11 as all the ashy bright ones, etc in my box o color lol.. wish someone could help me out with putting the darker demi over my diminsional blonde , but I'm just gonna have to do test strand and see"" LOVE YPUR VIDEOS SAM POST MORE YOUR BEAUTIFUL!! I'm in SC, would love to meet you one day ! I'm old thow lol 46.. but you are so honest and courageous I'm loving watching your journey and you are amazing! Did you get the PT position in NC . Just wondering .. HUGS**
Greaaaaat video on diy color at home! Wish I had seen this years ago.
OMG you are the best! Thank you so much for all this information!
As a man who colors their short hair without wanting to spend a lot of money just to keep up with the color, this was very informative. Thank you!
Thank you for this video bc it is very helpful! I always wanted to try to dye it with Sally's but never knew how so I would buy from walmart.
Very insightful. I have coiled hair and have been using keratin for two years now. Recently colored my hair at home with light brown lift and now it looks coppery. I want to add some lighter highlights but am uneducated when it comes to mixing lighter formula for my hair. Thank you for sharing this info.
Thank you!! Such a great way of explaining!
Omg such an amazing detail video omg thanks love ❤
- super helpful and easy to follow. Thank you so much! 💓
I’m blonde but I want to go a little darker. I definitely needed this video. Super informative. Thanks babe!💕

Fantastic video! Thank you so much!
I've been dying my hair black for the 6 years. Just last year I stopped dying my hair, due to getting pregnant. I do have lots of great hair. Now I'm trying go lighter, I'm so glad I came across your video.
Thank you for speaking in layman’s terms. FINALLY!! Someone who I can understand! Great job!
WOW! You literally read my mind. I was JUST looking at your "box dye" video THIS MORNING. Been thinking about going from balayage to like... burgundy/chocolate. My hair stylist is booked up so im considering doing it myself! lol Thanks for this video! Came in perfect timing!

Thank you for this video❤️ I’ve colored my hair 2 times now from virgin black to red and blonde and I used the L’Oréal hi-color so glad I’ve been doing something right! @@Snailmail1 YES! I have a video up on my channel going from black to blonde. With the color I used it came out honey blonde/golden and I was obsessed! With L’Oréal it will lift but the color may not match exactly to the sample in the store.
