I like Olaplex but K18 has blown my mind. Whilst it hasn't made my chemically treated hair feel like virgin hair, it feels exponentially healthier than it did before. It makes my hair wash days so easy too. Your hair does actually need to be damaged to actually get something out of K18.

I completely agree! I hate to disagree with Chris. But I used Olaplex for over a year and it’s good. But I bit the bullet and got the K18… and there is no comparison!! K18 blows Olaplex out of the water. I don’t buy Olaplex anymore. It’s truly unbelievable the results you get with K18… they didn’t like K18 bc how it felt on the hair. Tells me they used too much. Too many pumps. I have hair down to my waist and K 18 has made my hair so manageable. It use to take me up an 1hr to detangle my hair even using Olaplex. K18 and I’m like who’s hair is this. It’s insane. I use two pumps on each side of K18 for my waist long hair. Let it set for 4 mins and then I wet my hair again and use conditioner.

I think not using conditioner afterwards is what people don’t like about K18. Longs story short after seeing feedback from K18, it is actually safe to use conditioner or a mask after waiting the 4 minutes, and that makes a world of difference. K18 is superior for sure.

He is totally right on new Olaplex products. Olaplex was bought by private equity and that’s when they expanded the product range to increase the ARPU (average revenue per person) but the founding products i.e. No. 3 is the only really innovative product made by the original CEO and team

Advice for fellow Budget Girlies - Redken is owned by Loreal, and the Loreal brand bond repair products are identical to the Redken one - they’re both identical citric acid bond repairers. Those 2 brands are not identical AT ALL. I have tried each brand for long time and Redken is far far far better. Not even a point of comparison. Unfortunately, there aren’t that many good budget-friendly hair products, and although I think Ever Pure is one of the “best”, still does not compare to Redken, especially shampoos, heat protectant, and treatments. Ever Pure is just a water-down version of high end brands 🤷🏻‍♀️

I only had to trim my ends after using No.3 for months. dandruff is gone too now that i have my professional moroccanoil and redken dandruff shampoo. Off topic but do not doubt this man! If you have curls I recommend adding gel and heat protectant for your hair type if you diffuse. If you still need more definition I recommend the Redken Curvaceous Ringlet layered under gel and always finish with your oil after diffusing. It’s super lightweight and they have another one called Redken Curvaceous Curl Refiner found on Ulta. I personally don’t like their Full Swirl product, its a bit dryer.

Same feelings here. I’ve tried all three products- olaplex for at a year, redken acidic bonding concentrate for 3 months and k18 for 5 months. K-18 was the second one I tried and gave me the best results. I went back to it after trying redken. It took me a while to figure out the best way to comb out my very wavy/semi curly hair without using conditioner first but I just go very slowly with a wide tooth comb. I’m so glad I stuck with it. I love it. Olaplex was just okay but I used it for so long because that was the only repair product I knew about back then. redken was okay as well, just not as good as k-18.

I have been using k18 for over a year and it did much more for my hair than olaplex 3 😅 but K18 has now said that AS LONG AS YOU WAIT THE 4 MINUTES for it to process, you CAN use a conditioner. So I use the k18 mask, wait the 4 minutes and then apply my deep conditioning hair mask over it, wait 10 minutes, and rinse. And it still works (per the company). I feel like your stylists probably didn’t like the feeling of it because they went without conditioner- god knows I CANT skip conditioning!!!! ♥️ but I wouldn’t swear it off- K18 truly has benefited my hair, and I used Olaplex 3 for 1 year prior. I am interested in trying the Redken! Love your channel 💗

K18 has saved my hair from damage after it got overprocessed from multiple types of treatments (the pandemic was a problem). I had to dilute the concentrate in water in a spray bottle to get it properly distributed throughout my hair. I find that now that my hair is in pretty good shape it doesn't seem to do as much but it makes tons of difference if I use it right after getting a perm. It also doesn't work if I don't use a clarifying shampoo(neutrogena not theirs). Olaplex seems to work best when my hair is basically healthy. The redken seems to work the same as other products with that same pH range. Each of the products has a different mechanism of action (disulfide bond repair, peptide chain replacement, ionic (pH) bond strengthening) so I alternate use and get really fabulous results. But I definitely notice variability in how a product works, some weeks are great others not and I don't really know why that is.

Then I put on a shower cap to keep it from getting wet. After 4 minutes I take off the shower cap, put on the Redken dark purple conditioner and comb it through. Shower cap goes back on for 5 to 10 minutes depending on what else I have left to do. Rinse my hair off, out of shower, and put a t shirt on my hair to dry it and my hair turns out gorgeous - like strangers compliment me on it.

I have dry, coarse afro hair, and prefer k18 as it saves me time (I’m super lazy). I just use a leave in afterwards, it took about 4 washes to really notice the difference. I can’t get the redken but have used the elvive equivalent which was good but for me more effort. Since stumbling across your channel I have been able to simplify my routine and my hair is shedding less, less split ends, detangling is practically non existent and it’s waayy more softer

So glad I came across this bc I was legit going down a rabbit hole. I don't color, perm, or really even blow dry or curl my hair but it's just lost luster. I used to just wash and air dry my hair to straight perfection and now it's stringy looking. Thank you for the advise.

Drove to Tamworth today and brought the redken treatment and the moroccanoil mask. Thank you very much for the information about what works and what doesn’t. Will try for an extra day next time. :)

Loved this video! I’m currently using K18 only I use it a little differently. After it sits on my hair for the 4 minutes the brand says to, I re-wet my hair and condition. I did my research and the brand says as long as it is on your hair for the full four minutes it’s already penetrated your hair and you can rinse your hair and add conditioner. My hair feels SO much better after only three treatments.

I just bought olaplex 0 & 3, so i'm super excited to try it, but I've been using k18 for 6 months and my dry colour-treated waist-length hair feels soo much healthier, I don't think I'll ever give it up because of how simple it is. I just double-shampoo and hop out of the shower before dispersing 3 pumps thru all my hair. Quickest, easiest, most transformative hair product ever. I scored a sample of the redkin though so I'm excited to try that too.

First time I tried K18 for a few weeks and hated it as it made my hair feel gritty, weighed down and dry. I re-visited it a few years later by clarifying my hair, using LESS product (biggest change!) and it completely changed my mind and transformed my hair. The brand said you can use conditioner after, as long as you wait the 4 minutes. My hair looks absolutely incredible now! Also, their detox shampoo is very good.

Thank you for this video. I bought the redken months ago and just used it this past weekend for the first time. My hair is extremely damaged and chunks of hair rip off each time I shower or brush my hair (Im surprised I’m not bald yet). I did wash it first but now I know I can wash it after leaving it in. Which makes it easier than sitting in the shower with it. Yes I did that. I’ve been using your recommended products from your quiz as well. Just the video I needed! 👍 I wanted to add that my hair felt SO soft after using the redken repair treatment once. I cannot believe I waited so long to use it. Also, I have the redken white bottle conditioner from a while ago, I’ve been using the pink bottle shampoo and conditioner but my hair never felt healthy, and while traveling I took the white bottle left over conditioner and my hair did feel much softer with than one over the volume pink bottle. With damaged hair I’d say the white bottle conditioner is better even if it doesn’t actually repair. At least that’s the case for my thin damaged hair.

After shampooing your hair and drying with a towel, you then apply K18, you leave it on for 4 minutes as per advised, then you can add conditioner and leave it for 5-10 minutes and rinse! I actually contacted K18 and they advised me that once the 4 minutes are up, you can add whatever product you want.
