How to fix a SPINNING REEL BAIL that won't close | PENN SPINFISHER V service & maintenance
In this episode I go over a common problem that occurs with many saltwater spinning reels, the bail becomes hard, rough and sticks when closing... And is impossible to slam shut using the handle. I show you how to trouble shoot and correct this problem so your reel will work like it's brand new. If you fish saltwater with spinners, you're bound to run into this, if you have or if you haven't, and you want to learn about the DIY approach to working on your own gear. Then this episode's definitely for you.
Enjoy ;)
Tight lines & good vibes.

Thank you so much!!! You are the only person that I found who talks about how to properly set the bail spring!!!!!!!!
I just serviced my grandpa's Mitchel 300A for the first time ever. Went from a total 0 to hero! Now I'm hooked and serviced our other 5 rods! Totally worth it. You get the knowledge and experience, and save money from getting a new reel.
That was the coolest thing I have seen today!!!
Thanks so much. Exactly my reel problem, and very hard to find how exactly to get right into the bail mechanism with good narrative. Tight lines!
Hey Heath, thank you so much I was wondering why my reel wasn’t working properly and this helped so much! Bless your heart
Bro your video was amazing, the only one I see on KZread who went over everything step by step
This is the first time I subscribe on KZread because of your very meaningful useful and helpful video. Thank you very much Dennis
man!, i was searching for weeks on internet. thank you!
thank you for the tip I was able to repair my roll arm issue
Thank you, your explanation and video was exactly what I needed to fix my diawa ag 500. Much appreciated and earned you a new subscriber and a like.
Great tutorial Heath! Thank you.
This video helped a lot, thanks heaps for sharing!!!
Good tech video. FYI the noises in the background is because sound travel much faster through solids so place a soft cloth under the microphone or tripod whatever is sitting on the table. Thanks again Ricky 💃🕺🏼🎶🐈⬛🎸💥
Helpful, Thankyou!
Awesome video. Seems like it still doesn't want to slam shut even after the cleaning. I'm having the same problem with my Penn reel. I loosened the bail screws a quarter turn and that seemed to help.
very nice. Thanks
Hi Heath, Great video on reel maintenance. Saltwater corrosion is a big problem in spinning reels. I rinse my reels in the shower with warm water. When dry, I lube all the moving parts with WD-40. Surf fishing has the additional problem of getting sand into the reel. The sand just grinds into everything. Maybe you can make a video on line roller bearing maintenance. It seems to be the part that needs oil but rarely get it. Say "Hi" to Avi and Bella. I hope Bijoux is doing well. Take care and I'll talk to you on Sunday, Mickey
Thank you!! I couldn't figure out why the bail wasn't working properly after opening and closing it up again. That little spring hole 😂😂😂😂😂 had me all angry.
Very informative. Thanks.
