How to Fix a Samsung Dryer Squeaking, Making Noise, or Grinding

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

If you own a Samsung dryer that is making strange noises, its very important that you fix it before it gets much worse, because your dryer can end up having a failure that results in the Samsung dryer not starting, or won't turn on.
In this video, I will show you the 4 most common parts that fail - the Samsung Dryer Idler Pulley, the Samsung Dryer Roller Wheels, and the Samsung Dryer blower assembly, which are almost always the issues, as well as a few minor issues, too. You'll find out how exactly to do a Samsung Dryer Roller Replacement, too.
This video is the 2nd of a 4-part set of videos on Samsung Front Load Dryer repair videos. I spent 2 days tearing this unit apart, and filming all the typical errors you'd find on such a unit.

@@nmckinlay 5-7 days for UPS, 10-15 for economy. They are ERP brand which almost is always from the OEM factory or better, when possible. The original Samsung heating elements are from China, these are North American. The rollers from Samsung usually are Chinese, and these are Taiwanese... My experience is they are either at OEM quality or above it, even. I have yet to have a single problem with using them in our store, or selling them to customers.

You rock :) - order wheels and idler pully off your site. LIke everyone else, If I'm gonna tear it down and clean it I may as well replace the wear parts. You might want to add the belt to your kit as well. Amazon is always cheaper but you video is worth the price difference this time. Thanks. Cheaper than calling for a tech.

My neighbor also has a stacked set, and told me it added $150 and a week ( needs 2 guys to be free to get drum out) to get a diagnosis. Thanks to your video I attacked it myself. Total time to replace pulley and clean out dryer was 1.5 hours. Saved me $500. I owe you a beer!!

You forgot to mention something! If the drum rollers fail within a year of being replaced, it's likely the felt seal on the drum is too worn and needs to be replaced. Dirt is able to get past it and ruin the rollers. The hardest part was finding a felt seal that would work. I used a felt seal meant for an LG dryer in my samsung dryer and it worked just fine. The process of removing, cleaning and installing the new seal was pretty straightforward and it's lasted close to 4 years so far without needing further repairs. I'm not an appliance repairman myself, but I still have a Samsung front load dryer like this one from 2008. When the motor finally gives out, it'll be time for a speed queen.

Not identical arrangement, but close enough to figure out. ** Thanks for stressing the importance of cleaning, that's exactly how to prevent fires aside from clean lint traps. Pull the cover and vacuum every 2-3 years ideally.

As soon as my new repair room is done I'll be shooting the same ideas for Whirlpool/Maytag dryers. Got a NASTY Kenmore (really WP Built) that had the rear bulkhead that holds the drum shred itself in half... Horrible thing... All caused by a $10 roller wheel. Quite literally, every dryer I've seen has a nearly-similar arrangement. 2-4 roller wheels. Idler pulley which anymore wear down fast. Some like GE/Frigidaire have drum bearings and wear pads that can go bad, but its almost the same identification system: If you have a noise, the drum will shred soon.

@r3d33m3dn78 if it's squeaking, I show all the parts that could squeak and how to replace them. Do you know how many comments I'd get if I just showed how to replace the pulley to solve the issue?

We watched your video and decided we would try to fix our dryer, after hearing all the costs from the repair store. We bought the kit on Amazon and proceeded by watching your video step by step. We changed the parts and reassembled the dryer! Turned it on, and it sounded beautiful! All the horrible noises are gone!! Thank you for making that video.

We have a squealing Speedqueen dryer at work. Sounds like a bad belt or bad bearing if they have those. I don't see any videos on Speedqueen are they fairly easy to work on? Are they worth the money for home use? (I am building a house myself and debating appliances. The ones at the firestation where I work seem to hold up to heavy use well, minus the recent squealing dryer.)

Good video but you can replace the rear wheels without removing the rear panel. Much easier. And I replaced mine while stacked

Is the bearing on the tensioner pulley suppose to feel more tight or just as loose as the other rollers?? I have a noise I’m looking for can’t seem to find it, but it wasn’t a repetitive noise or squeak that something a belt or roller would do.

So we did this and replaced the heating element at the same time with your kit. Is there something we missed that would make the dryer stop heating after these replacements?

Hi Ben, this is a great video. Very easy to follow and the camera picture is very clear. I have a question for you. I have a gas 2015 samsung smart dryer. Do you know how to change the back two rollers without having to take the back panel out and removing the gas heating element? I have seen and heard I can just take off the white triangle and replace the wheels that way without removing the back panel. Is that true?

Yes, but you'll need a wrench to place behind the rollers to hold the rear nut in place while removing the shaft with another wrench. I thought about including that technique in the video, but didn't due to difficulty of filming properly. If you watch the video where the bulkhead is removed, you can see where the nuts are, and you can remove them w/o taking the element/bulkhead off. Thanks for the great question.

Thanks Ben, I will use a wrench and see if I can take the back rollers out to replace without removing the panel. Your video was very helpful.

Do the blue and the red wire has to be at the same order before you take it off from the heating element? Cause before you removed the wire the Red power wire was on the top and when you go back to install it the Red power was on the bottom.
