Just a quick one this week as we tackle another common problem on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. A failing fuel door which gets stuck constantly and runs the risk of damaging the cars paintwork. We're here for a good time not a long time so lets get into it!

Was as easy as you said, the only mistake I made was that I pulled the lid too hard and the clips snapped and broke. Luckily the clips are not super integral to keeping the lid on (it's the screw that does the heavy lifting) so it's all good. Anyway I replaced the plastic pin with a new one I ordered from Amazon and the door is Solid, thanks for the video!

very helpful! the lid was wobbling, now after replacing Lid and pin, i face another problem, that the lid doesn't open after slight push on it. so i pushed it with little strength and brocke it again, BUT at least the lid doesn't wobble any more!

@@TheBuildRoom it looks to me it's seated correctly , i doubt though either it's stuck , doesn't pop out or there is a electric problem. When i push the spring in, it pop wriggt back but i am not sure if that's how it supposed to work.

Thank you. Just ordered one just now. Says delivery for us next day in UK. Currently can't get in with out a screwdriver. Will let you know how I get on changing it. Would love to do your headlight one too. But feels like a pro job that fix.. Thinking of trying a Holts restorer bottle or something like that. But not sure which to go for?

Glad the episode was helpful. Headlight restore wise I guess it depends on what is available in your area - I'm not up to speed on whats easy to get in the UK. In Australia I'd probably just use a Meguiars headlight restoration kit. Just whatever you get make sure it has more than one step, with the final step having some UV protection in it. It's very easy to make the headlights shiny again, hard to keep them that way without UV protection.

Hi Tony Vialetto and BuildRoom, I watched both your recent videos on removing fuel door piece. You both refer to a '"clip". I think this is incorrect name, as it's actually just a piece of plastic to just leave a small gap between it and the body of the car I think. Also I think both videos missed the fact that you could press the solenoid in so it doesn't pertrude so much. Which makes the job to remove the piece easier. Maybe you could add that to video as a note. Only just realised! Once you peal off the rubber round fuel noozle entrance. it just slides easily towards the back of the car without breaking. Maybe you could add this in videos if you agree with my thinking. As I feel just now many people will damage this bit of plastic referred to as a clip. Thanks again for great videos. I've fixed loads of previous ones. Glued one bit on as was slightly broke back on. Left other off. But it looks very hard to do as they are such small pieces to get other back on.

Hi Alex - i got mine from Alfa Workshop - i have no affiliation with them but they shipped from UK to AU no issue and the part was genuine. Link is below and the part number is at 13:40 - good luck with yours. www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/parts/Giulietta_Fuel_Flap.shtml

I've actually had it longer than most of my other cars, but it will feature on a special project episode once Violet Crumbles is back on the ground and driveable.

Awesome video, but you might find it's easier to repair the fuel door issues by.just leaving it on the street with the keys in the ignition on the street one night. Use insurance money to purchase a nice TA22 Celica project. Simples 🙂

Just a thought, why not buy a spring locally for less money and not wait as long for it to arrive. I bought one from Italian Automotive Spares. I buy all my parts from there. :)

Just easy purchasing really - could find what i wanted online, it was cheap and it got sent over to my door - zero effort on my part and i could do it at midnight - I bought a bunch of parts so postage wasn't a prohibitive cost. If I'd found an Australian supplier that i could browse parts online, select what i needed, pay and have it sent to me they definitely would have gotten my business. 👍
