Than you! Opened mine up to try to jostle the fan a bit to deal with a grating noise... no luck.. going for your recommended fan, looks good. For the record folks ought to solder the wires and cover with heat shrink.

Thanks man. Hopped on the discord and figured out it was a fan on my genesis gold. It’s been making a intermittent buzzing sound. My dashboard says CPU core temps are 64-65 deg C, but don’t know if that’s hot but hopefully not too so. Then found your vid. Appreciate it. And thanks for the link to get the fan…

@@SuitTV Easy peasey, got it done. Thanks! The new fan is a bit thicker, so was concerned a little about fit, but worked. The 2 screws holding the fan down seemed to need washers for the new fan holes as the heads just went thru, but it’s stable enough. Did think about soldering the wires together as i’ve got fat fingers too, but went with the twist and tape method. New fan is much quieter and temp is holding at 38-42 deg C.

Mine genesis is super hot, 72-74 C

So helpful thank you so much! I too have the gold plated miner and i always get the red light due to overheating. I had tried a usb fan plugged into the unit, and the air flow was not enough to cool the device. So glad I discovered this. Please do post this in the Deeper subreddit.

Can someone tell me whether the fan should be faced up or down ? Surely it should be pushing warm air out not sucking air in ?

You missed a step: those 2 small screws that come with the old fan....those got stuck in my new fan, and I can't manage to screw down the new fan properly. Any suggestions? It would help to edit and revise this video to add extra steps that to make sure everyone is on the same page.

I mention at the 3:00 mark to screw the new fan back in. It was a little tricky to do but it worked for me. Maybe try putting the screws into the holes first and then putting the fan on top so the holes in the fan align with the screws that are already in. You need to make sure you are screwing them into the 2 spots with threads as there are 2 other spots without threads

It has an SD card slot but Im not sure what the use case for that is tbh. I've never used it.

i just received, my mini yesterday, and its running at 50 degrees. should I do what you did? what degrees are you getting?

That seems fine to me but I never measured the temperature. I don't think you need to replace the fan until it stops or starts to make a weird noise.

thanks for this video! Just bought the fan for my Genesis and it's coming in tomorrow. They supposedly were going to come out with a adapter external fan, but we would've likely had to pay for it, which is just dumb lol. Honestly, I am not happy with the project anymore. So many issues and shady shit behind the scenes it seems. I should've seen these issues before I bought into it, but I Fomo'd in, and now I'm stuck with a product I don't enjoy as soon as the tokens become unlocked I am going to be selling all of them and hopefully, get my money back. lol

Np, glad to help. Yea I emailed the support asking for a new fan and got no reply. You'd think they would warranty something like this for a year. I'll be interested to see what happens to the price after the 9month lockup period on the Genesis nodes.
