It would be great to see a video about long term custom watercooling maintainance. I've been using the same loop/coolant for almost 5 years now, and although my temps are still fine, I know they should be replaced/cleaned at some point. Since I didn't have room for a drainage port, it's a bit of an intimidating idea to drain the reservoir for cleaning.

I guess the s10+ is waterproof So put it in water , more effective cooling

This would be really neat if you could have the cooling bit in a case itself so you could just hook it up to the pump and away you go, without having to add it to some other case.

Honestly, I could see a more concise setup being developed so you could dock the phone at home, with a cleaner water cooling setup, and use the phone to do some gaming without throttling. Could be a great setup for vanlife people, or someone just wanting to be a minimalist and have one device to do everything they want to do. Still a fairly small segment of people but, nifty.

You can buy phone water cooking sets on AliExpress I got an add for one. It’s basically a phone case filled with water that has tubing leading to a small container holding water and a pump

I would rerun the test while gaming *and* plugged into a quick charger.

Why not a water bottle with a 5v submersible pump dropped in, powered by a regular battery pack strapped to the bottle? That'd be way more functional and portable. Edit: there is a 5v pump on Amazon that'd be perfect, AND it uses a similar diameter of tubing to the only copper cold plate tested in this video.

don't do that. such lower temps will condense the air inside the phone forming water which may short out the motherboard.

This is actually kinda important. No one would’ve thought we could have laptops even close to the power of a desktop 10 years ago. I think phones will eventually get relatively close to the performance of desktops as stuff gets smaller, so solving critical issues like this will actually be a problem. For this specific scenario, this solution wouldn’t be horrible if you made a case that has the heatsink built in and you can just pop the phone in whenever.

I agree, some of us need cooling advancements now. I have to deal with this subject every summer, and every time I go on vacation I have to plan extra to make sure my devices stay cool. It seems like the solution is a case with water cooling off-boarding capabilities. So many dumb comments here.

This is the reason I have a crazy idea to modify a phone case cut a large portion on the back and install a copper in it so the fan cooler can be much more effective

This comes to mind, i'm doing something similar. Except i got a free icepack, a northern icepack or something, squishy and basically a pouch with contents. Anyways, put that down, put my bare phone without a case on it, and when i'm using a hotspot it absorbs 95% of the heat keeping it nice and cool even when the icepack is at room temperature. If i put one on top too, well it's pretty much ice cold.

Honestly: Keep your tube sizes as large as possible as long as reasonable to reduce pressure losses. LINUS WHY DO YOU HAVE 2 FEET OF MICRO TUBE.

The idea of a cooking system is not too move water fast,but to move it slow enough to get the water hot at the heart source then get the water cold at the radiator.if it moves to fast it'll do either.that's what a thermostat does in a car,let's the water warm up in the engine and cool down in the radiator,then open and let them swap,then close and repeat. You'd get way better efficiency if y'all added a thermostat inline,then to take it a step further,run what's called a tiktok. It runs the pump for a second to let the water circulate halfway around then turns on the fan and keeps going back and forth.but you gotta add a temp sensor at your source

Emissivity. Not reflectivity. Though somewhat related in terms of IR. If you have a meter that is static set to 93/95/98 you can put some masking tape on the thing you are trying to measure. Just make sure you don't exceed the sensor field.

I found a nice little "water cooling" solution than this although quite impractical , only works good in plastic back phones and is only meant to cool down your phone after you have used it( to cool it faster after you've used it heavily. If you have those porcelain mugs with a rough surface that feels like a whetstone. Add some water in the mug, place it on the back of your phone while it's screen facing down on a flat surface, wait 1 minute, and your phone is k ow lower than 20°c

Need that tech much more portable to use

Sit the phone on a super cold Ice-gel pack, watch in amazement when benchmarking. Ive been doing this since the original Motorola Xoom tablet came out.

you should watercool a nintendo switch. the vent on the top just vomits heat with the very visable heatsink, and with its small size, it'll be good practice for the RED camera (if your still doing that, that is)

This whole thing could be in a docking station, where you could put the phone's screen to an external display, and with a controller, it would be really fun. But even with these, a Nintendo Switch would have way better gaming experience due to the lack of high quality games that could effectively make use of this "form factor" imo.
