New to trout fishing and while taking a 34 hour reset in Wyoming, went to Walmart and bought a pack of these and some floats. Caught my first North Platte rainbow on these by throwing it out and letting the float pull the Pistol Pete downstream. Thank you!

I've learned that you get bites constantly by filling the bubble completely with water and letting it sink. You have to experiment with 10, 15, 20 second sinks etc, but once you find the depth and have the right color, you're in for 20 to 50 bites that day.

What's the difference between using a regular foam bobber vs the water bubble. Is it basically just the weight?

Yes. I've filled them up almost all the way before and been able to cast insane distances

Yes, with the same fly/bubble set-up. You will probably still need the bubble for casting weight!

Excellent advice. Can Pistol Pete's be fished with a split shot only with any degree of success fishing for stocked trout in lakes?

The fly / bubble setup works best in lakes, and if you want it to go deeper, fill your bubble completely with water so as to bring your fly to a greater depth. The split shot works better in rivers and streams. I hope this helps!

    I catch 8-12 inch bluegills/red ears using a small split shot. Water depth is 1/2'to 8' mostly ~4' deep.Joe A. Good catching....I also grill my fish...yum!

I have used them on coastal rivers here in WA St and have caught nice sea run cutthroat on them during the summer. They also work well with warm water species like crappie, bluegill and yellow perch
