    Subscribed. Already love your newsletter. Just splurged & bought a Megabass Vision OneTen last week. Amazing bait. Two first casts resulted in two bass. Water clarity was 3’ and I could see bluegill and largemouth bass nosing up to the lure between twitches. In the last week I fished three different bodies of water and caught some of my best bass. Only issue: Going to run out of money buying Megabass products. Just had to order 3 more (Vision OneTen, OneTen +1 and a Kanata). Also bought a couple packages of spare hooks (#4 & #6 by Megabass) as I have literally caught over 20 bass on the original hooks. My justification regarding price: I am willing to pay $8.00 for a crankbait like a Rapala or a Storm I am willing to pay $8.00 for the exterior (unbelievable paint job, hardware of hooks and ring and lure hydrodynamics) I am willing to pay $8.00 for the interior (two different types of Tungsten ball bearings and the easy of casting this lure great distances) Thus: I am willing to pay $24.00 for one lure. Oh, and “Yes”, I will throw up when I lose any of these lures. {Only lure modification was to “T” the two front treble hooks so they do not damage the bait as much}. Jay, keep up the Excellent work.

    I click on here to hear you talk about Bull Shoals. I have a retirement property right by CR 15 access by Highway 5, the Arkansas side of Stateline. I have a few more tears to enjoy it full time. Caught a 24 inch Spot on B. Shoals late spring. Jig and jerkbait fishing in that clear water is something special!

    2:58 ELIGIE?" bone, thats the color i have only got one i gotta say i love it, caught me some bass with it first cast and not my last, but i gotta say the middle hook gets caught on top of the bait causing it to scratch off some of the paint. I recently switched hooks on it, but i used it like at least 10 outings never hit any rocks, and seems got water inside and the balls rusted out. Im a little disappointed in how the hooks were made on this bait.

    Love the info but, 400 dollar rod and 25 dollar jerk bait? Rapala Shadow Rap 11 works just as good on a Dobyns champion or fury series rods. The broke angler has said his peace.

    Brokeangler I do have a 200$ St. Croix rod I upgraded my 130$ one when it broke and only paid the difference but yea the xrap is 8.50 at Walmart too and this winter it would be impossible to catch more fish then I did unless you had someone taking fish off hooks for you and a second rod to use while they do lol seriously and I lose jerkbaits often enough that at 25$ a piece I’d be diving in alligator infested waters to retrieve

    Brokeangler The Dobyns Sierra series are often a overlooked rod. I have one and it’s phenomenal! I dare to say that it’s even better than the Dobyns Fury. I can’t commit to buying this jerkbait just yet, but I do want to invest in this - even if it ends up being a unused trophy bait. From what Ike said, the jerkbait is a visual bait. Unfortunately for me, a lot of the waters that I go to are often murky or stained waters, which is useless for jerkbaits. But I do definitely want to add this lure to my Megabass collection!!

    The hooks are good, if your using lighter line, but if you use heavier line, your right, they gotta be swapped out. Man they are sticky hooks though...I use 8 lb line with 110s so I like the hooks.

    @@jeffgao4862 Yeah Jeff, you can use braid, I use braid on the 110jrs, X-Nanahans, x-80 trick darters and x-80 Jr's. You will need to put a fluoro leader on though so you don't foul (otherwise the lure runs into the braid and foul hooks itself, the fluoro will be pushed out of the way by the jerkbait cause its stiffer). If your worried about loosing lures go to a little heavier fluoro for a leader, like 12#...I wouldn't go heavier than that as you'll loose all your action and the jerkbait is affected by the line weight. I get it, they're expensive...if you use em over primary and secondary points (open water) you would be surprised at the size fish you can catch with lighter line and jerkbait rod...just let em play. I hope that helped.

    @@Tbowie13 thank you for your quick response and detailed explanation. It helps a lot. The lake where I am fishing has lots of weeds and sometimes i have to pull the fish out of heavy weeds. Right now i am using 30 lb braided line. Last week I bought my first megabass 110 and haven't tried it yet. How long should the fluoro leader be?

  • @Tbowie13

    @Tbowie13

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@jeffgao4862 You can fish the 110s if the weeds are submerged and down a good 5 ft or so. That can be a really productive method as it pulls them up to strike from deeper water much like a top water walking bait would pull em up from 3-5 ft of water. If you can find open water in a boat, try it offshore on humps, where those schooling bass congregate. If your shore fishing and don't have access to real open water right now, put it in your box for another couple months cause it will turn deadly in colder water when that vegetation dies back. As far as tjat leader goes, just a few ft...3-4, you just want enough so it doesn't foul hook that braid (the braid bends too easily and let's the lure run up on it, the stiff flour will get pushed out of the way much better). Work it on a slack line, starting your snap with a slack line and once you've bumped the lure, go slack again immediately...that will let that 110 work. They really are special jerkbaits, and when it's on with em you'll know exactly what I mean. I like em enough that the last time I sorted my megabass jerkbaits I was a few shy of 100, 110's and a bunch more Jr's, Trick darters and X-Nanahans. Come winter they're about all I care to throw besides Rapala swimming ice jigs when they're holding tight to bottom in deep water. Best of luck man, I hope you find the "It Factor" with em...they're a fun bait!
