How To Find YOUR Perfect Shooting Pocket

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Take The Masterclass:
DeepGameBasketball.com
One of the biggest struggles in becoming a great shooter is finding the perfect shooting pocket every time. Whether it's off the dribble or the catch, getting the ball to the same pocket is crucial, but with so many variables, it can also be very difficult. In today's video, Coach Drew breaks down how to get the ball to YOUR perfect pocket each and every time. And, as he'll explain, once you start getting to that pocket consistently, your shooting percentages are going to skyrocket.

    Now it makes sense y I tend to shoot better off the dribble than catch and shoot...when I pick up my dribble I'm not thinking about how I release I just do it. When I catch and shoot im consciously tryna keep my elbows as straight as possible. I have a natural chicken wing I just gotta release straight and im good

    So I am naturally left handed, but sports I tend to use my right as the dominant, but I do feel my left hand is more comfortable when shooting but not when I’m coming off a dribble or in a pressured situation. But I do feel tension in my wrist and shoulders when shooting with my right.. I have a solid form with both. Should I practice more with my left cause it feels more comfortable or just continue with my right hand? Watching this video I test both my right and left and left feels a lil more comfortable, as of lately shooting with my right has been shaky i tend to change my form often when shooting with my right compared to my left I have a set jumper.. what do I do

  • @poofykins

    @poofykins

    3 жыл бұрын

    you actually answered your own question. you shoot with whatever hand feels more natural...i'm right handed and have worked at my left and can shoot with good form and decent % but it's not smooth and natural. so it's a "side project" just in case there's a situation where I have to shoot lefty maybe getting fouled or a really bad angle..but i'm not going to BECOME a left hand shooter when the right feels better. the pressure situations will become natural to use your left as make the transition and it should happen pretty fast. Go lefty..and STICK WITH IT...and then you'll still have a solid right if you need it.

    Still teaching the traditional shit. Great shooters twist. It's not the problem with only upper body mechanics of the shot. Lower body needs to be relaxed too. If you're too square to the basket it creates shoulder tension which it a bad thing.

  • @ryanbaxter12

    @ryanbaxter12

    4 жыл бұрын

    Agree, that there is some variation of course, but all this elbow business is because someone is so worried about keep the shoulders square to the hoop. Just align your hip and shoulder to the hoop. Power is from the turn too.

  • @poofykins

    @poofykins

    3 жыл бұрын

    yup..that's some 1950's shit and outdated...the whole square shoulders goes against the body's natural biomechanics. Stand straight and close your eyes...raise your arm and point...it never raises 90 degrees straight out in front..it always raises at a slight angle so to get the most fluid and natural shot the upper body should be slightly rotated so the arm raises straight to the hoop without any extra force...what "coaches" don't get is that when ya get tired...the body tends to go back to it's natural movement patterns. I shoot standing angled slightly and can hit 20 3's in a row regularly and my form is easy to keep the same. It's easier to turn your head a little than to force your shoulder to pull your arm square with your body.
