Hi Madeleine, just wanna say I recently found your channel after months and months of DIY-ing through other KZread coaches and I just gotta tell you no other teacher made me both learn as much and experience as much as you have. The complete...patience? you seem to have with the idea that people just can't do something naturally (even though it's basic for you) is absolutely wonderful. And I'm not bashing on the other coaches I've seen, people know what they're doing, but the level of empathy it takes for anybody to teach like you do is immense. With your videos - and this one ESPECIALLY since I'm still struggling to resonate in my head voice at all - I've managed to UNLEARN some of the methods I've gotten so used to because they were supposed to be "correct". Just because a professional can apply them properly, doesn't mean they'd suit my---well, body---when I'm just starting out as a complete beginner. Thanks so so much for what you're doing, I wish you all the best. Cheers from Croatia! :)

For anyone who may be struggling or experiencing strain when they do it this has really helped me, so when I would try this it would sound really stained and pushed and my larynx would shoot up to try and grab that note which isn’t good cause it’s only making it harder. So try thinking (although may seem counterintuitive) downward as you go up to head voice and instead and that really helped to make it sound more rounder and better and it actually made it easier for to me reach higher notes. I’m a bass so I naturally had harder time trying to find my head voice and those higher notes but this really helped me to think down instead of up!

What a cherished find your teaching is! I sent links to my fellow choir members. I asked this question of a choir leader a few years ago and she just gave me a blank look, so thank you, thank you, thank you!

I finally got round to watching this, and by far it's been one of the most helpful videos for me. You've helped me more easily access notes at the extreme upper end of my range, and also make resonant sounds safely. Thank you!

Hi! I can find the chest, mix, and head with clarity. But it’s the passage from Ab-A-A# that is crazy clumsy. How can I smooth that passage out?

I do not feel it in the back of my head. I feel it moving from behind my teeth and then backing up in my palate, I do not feel it in the back of my head.
