Fabulous tutorial, thank you for showing every stage of the process I now feel this is something I can do. Your videos are so, detailed, easy to follow and full of inspiration 👍🙌🫶. I did wince when you were lifting the dye baths out of the sink. Thank you for taking the time to share xx

You are so welcome! Yes, you are right. I should have removed some liquid so it wasn’t so heavy to lift.
I dye a lot of yarn, when I Ombré dye I keep the un dyed yarn out of the bowl and dye in reverse. It’s much easier as I lower the undyed yarn in to the dye rather than keep taking more out at intervals to achieve ombré dying. It’s a much cleaner and easier process. So the first bit goes in then ten mins later a bit more and so on etc. So the first bit has been in there the longest and will have the deepest colour. The it all comes out at once. Much cleaner and easier process.. lovely colours and another nice video to watch. Thank you. And hope your arm is okay.. craft related injuries !!

Yes,of course. That would be the proper way to do the Ombré. It was an after thought while I was doing the video. Lol. I was sore for awhile. Just moved the wrong way. Silly me.
So glad to see this video! I have plans to make a basket for my daughter and wanted colour without having to wrap fabric! Brilliant!!

Thank you so much!! Really informative!!
This is inspirational and amazing to watch the colors emerge. I really appreciate how you took the time to go through the entire process, and all the tips. Simple, no special equipment. I have wanted to try these bowls, with color but the wrapping did not appeal to me. I prefer the clean look of the cord. The dye is Brilliant and something I will try. So thank you.

Thanks for a great video! I'm just beginning to get into rope bowls and baskets and your video has been the best one that I've watched. I want to do embroidery on the bottoms and these colors would really make them POP. Thank you also for the explanation of Ombre. I didn't know you could do that. This was time well spent.

:) I am about to go dye my macrame plant wall hangings right after this! Great info in your video. One of my macrame plant hangers that I made is all finished with wooden dowels in it, not just cotton rope. I am going to test it, and put the whole thing inside the dye. Guess it might dye the wood black but oh well... praying it comes out pretty! Very informative video, thank you!!!!

You need to pre wash your rope in case there is an sizing or a protective barrier that will not allow the dye to penetrate.
Please do a project with this rope, it's beautiful!

Such a great tutorial, to the minor details. Thank you! The colours came out beautifully and the ombre just gorgeous! You mention cord and rope. What is the difference, their width? Wishing your arm rapid recovery!

I like to use 1/4” rope for the rope bowls. I mentioned cord for if you want to dye Macrame cord in any size that you want. Thanks for the best wishes. I am so upset that I can’t make the Easter basket. Hopefully in a few days.
This is amazing! Thank you for the tutorial. I’ve got almost all my supplies gathered and I’m ready to try it. I did want to ask you...the macrame cord that you weighed (not the rope) where you said it weighed about a pound..what is the size do the rope? It looks to be 3mm but just wanted to check. Thanks again.
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

Yes, it was 3mm macrame cord and 1/4” rope.

I tried coloring my twisted cotton rope, but its hard got get the dye all the way through, when i cut the rope its still have white part inside. I hope you can help me 🥰
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts

I dyed cotton rope in this video and it was fine. But saying that, some of my rope has a synthetic core. The synthetic core will not dye. If that’s not the case then I’m thinking leave it in the dye bath longer or use more concentrated dye bath solution or the dye bath was not hot enough. Just wondering, is there a reason you need the inside of the rope perfectly coloured as well? Is the outside of the rope a solid colour?
How do you suggest I dry mine? I live in a condo with no clothes line

Does the color fade over time?
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
5 жыл бұрын
If you are using the Rit dye for T-shirt’s and clothing that are being washed a lot then it will fade. If your doing the rope bowls which are not being washed hardly at all then the color should hold up for a long time. If they are sitting in direct sunlight than you may get some fading.
How long did it take to dry all that?
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
2 жыл бұрын
Not long. It was warm out so just let it hang outside for the day.
Have you ever tried dying a bowl after you’ve made it?
