Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Welcome to Highway Thirty! I’m Sara and I’m Amy and we are here to help you get creative!
I hope you enjoy learning how to color your #ropebasket creations with us. In this video we are going to show you how Mom gets the ombre effect on her bowls that you saw in our last video. It takes a little bit of testing and patience to get a clean gradient with dye, but we are here to help you with all of the testing. If you missed seeing Mom craft her new favorite obsession, check it out here. We also give you a couple of ideas for gifts that you can make with your bowls!

We love to watch crafting videos on KZread. Each one is so inspiring and always gives us the bug to start a project. The problem is, after binge watching several in a row, there is no remembering what the favorites were, much less what supplies are needed to make them. What if you could be inspired, and then have everything you need for that project in just one click? Here at Highway Thirty, we not only want to inspire you, but we also want to equip you with everything you need from start to finish. We craft one project per video, so you don’t have to search to find the one tutorial you need. Just grab a kit and get to crafting!

Thanks for watching us create these colorful rope bowl baskets! If you are curious, we use the Hyper Tough diamond braided cotton clothesline that you can find at Walmart. It has a poly core which helps with the stiffness. The size we use is 3/16", and it comes in 100ft rolls.
Thanks for the possibilities. The two of you are very fun to watch.

Hi, this is fun, I never thought about die before. The salt will help set the colors.

I wonder if the rope bowl was moistened if it would draw the dye upward more easily.

That's a good idea! We will have to give it a try. Thanks for watching!
Did you try any where you got them wet with water first? Maybe you would have gotten more of an ombre effect if they were wet first

We actually did try that with the coasters. It wasn't the winner because the color ended up traveling too far. There is definitely room for more testing! Thanks for stopping by!
Do you rinse the bowls once dyed or do you just let it dry and call it done? If you just let it dry, will the dye transfer to table or shelf?

Hi there! We have never rinsed the bowls, just let them dry. So far there hasn't been any issue with dye transfer on our surfaces. Thanks for stopping by!
Love your video! When you save your die in a jar you said to heat it back up! Do you heat it to a boil again or just so that it is hot? Thank you!!

Thank you!! I heat it back up to almost boiling. That has always worked well for me.

Did you try using the Rit Dyemore which will also dye the polyester thread?

Do you have to rinse them off after you die them? My hands are turning blue when I touch mine. Thanks for your help. Tina

We didn't rinse these because we didn't want the blue to bleed. Once it was completely dry we haven't had any issue with transferring the color onto our hands. Thanks for stopping by!
I think the coffee bowl looks more organic, like pottery.

Hi Mary! Thanks for stopping by! We have actually had Mom on a few times making her rope bowls for us. There isn't a specific tutorial, but here she does go a bit more in depth with the process and tips. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zot4t9Rug9ivccY.html
Did you try a fade with an all wet basket, or partial wet?
@highwaythirty1810

We didn't try that with a basket yet, but we did try it with the coaster. The dye traveled too far too fast and that's why it wasn't a winner in our opinion. We need more testing! Thanks for stopping by!
Did you rinse the dye after

Thank you, Nancy! The size we use is 3/16", and it comes in 100ft rolls. Mom just bought some comparable rope in different diameter sizes that she found on the Home Depot website, so I'm excited to see how those turn out. We will let you know!
