I started watching your how-to-draws a few years ago when I was new to drawing, now I'm doing Illustration at uni and I just love coming back to your channel even just for inspiration. I'm self taught and just started sketching, with your tutorials I have come so far so fast I can't thank you enough. I've painted scenes but never sketched in my life. I just did this beautiful lion & plan on painting it as a gift to my grand nephew for his birthday. Your drawing abilities are beyond excellent . Haven't done ANY sketching in over 6 years. I was good when I was a teenager, my dad was on TV doing tons of art projects, but I couldn't seem to gain any confidence. Stumbled on this video , found out I had all the supplies, and with your direction, watching how you shade, I was able to match what you drew! Thank you so much!

I drew my first lion from your tutorial last night and I am amazed at what turned up on the page. Your instructions were so good and I could pause the video until I caught up and then start you again. I know you hear good stuff all of the time, you have over 2,000,000 subscribers so you must, but I just wanted to tell you how much I am loving your teachings and humor. I would show you my pretty lion but I don't know how to post it. I have always doodled and crafted and colored but I've never tried to really draw something. I really like this aspect of my creative self and will be doing more. Thanks.

I am attempting this drawing on a canvas... It's hard because of the sort of rough texture the it has... I'm in an art show coming up and I need to work on a lot of paintings... Justin If you want advice this is my email.joeyli@ps164.org.I have an advice. 1.Get better material.You likely need a ,2b,4b,6b.If you want darker pencils they are ,7b ,8b.9b ,and 11 are rare.You might need light in your drawing.These are the material.2h ,3h ,4h etc.You will need blending in some of your drawings.These materials are best for blending.Blending stick you can make your own blending stick paper on KZread.Then blending brush.You can use thin painting brushes.3.Practice. Try practicing every day.Make sure when you look at a drawing,look at it carefully.4.Pressure. Sketches have different dark to light areas,and this is basic to learn how to sketch.Pressure is most important.Thats why there are different mediums of darkness HB pencils are not the lightest,but is lightest when compare to B pressure it is the lightest. Great vid as always Mark! I have a request for your next How To Draw video. I am obsessed with old japanese culture(the buildings, samurai, ninja, the, food they ate etc). So, could you take into consideration drawing a samurai boy holding a sword with the clothing they wore back then? Just an idea im throwing out there :)

Hi

Shading is one of my frustrating areas. The fur of animals in general, especially in conjunction with facial features. I understand you have to do time lapses, but I could use a tutorial on fur patterns in general. Love your videos, by the way.
