How to do Progressive Muscle Relaxation
Progressive muscle relaxation is a relaxation technique that reduces stress and anxiety in your body by having you slowly tense and then relax each muscle. Progressive muscle relaxation can provide an immediate feeling of relaxation, but it’s best to practice frequently. With experience, you will become more aware of when you are experiencing tension and you will have the skills to help you relax.

It really will. I have the exactly same thing n have been doing it for years.
I practice this exercise with my clients often who deal with anxiety and anger challenges. They've mentioned often how helpful it is and how they didn't realize how they were carrying tension in different parts of their bodies. Thank you for creating this!!💚💚💚

It works better starting from top to bottom and at the end the entire body. And you take yourself some place nice you visualize loved ones around you. Every thing is beautiful, you're in a peaceful place.
I do this after my calisthenics and weights routine. Really helps me to relax afterwards and go from beast mode to a more relaxed mindset
I suffer from serve PTSD and this helps a lot

I have a chronic tic disorder and this really is useful
This is my 1st time listening to your relaxation of muscles .I may have to do it again this evening..definitely released some of the anxiety, but think I need another round. Wil start practicing daily. Thsnk you
This was very helpful to help myself calm down, thank you.
I’m going to see if this will work for me. I suffer from anxiety and insomnia and I want to fix this before I go back to college.
Okay, recommended by my therapist and I can honestly say it worked great. I will definitely make this part of my routine. 👍
great video, I love the video which is perfect for supporting relaxation. I prefer it to ones that show someone in a chair talking through it (even though your eyes are supposed to be closed during the exercise, sometimes my eyes open and I much prefer these visuals.
my counselor showed me this video and it works great!!
Thank you for uploading this video. My councillor sent me this video and it’s really helped me

This may be called progressive muscle relaxation (trendy name), but It's one of many basic yoga relaxation techniques. Been teaching yoga, and this particular relaxation and other relaxation techniques for many years.
@SilentMedley
Жыл бұрын
Progressive Muscle Relaxation is not a trendy name, nor a new practice. PMR was developed by Dr. Edmund Jacobson in 1922. He published "Progressive Relaxation" in 1938. Yoga has origins as old as Sanskrit itself, but (and I could be wrong, I am not a yoga instructor or expert) I believe that Yoga Nidra is the closest to PMR, and those origins were documented in the 1960s by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Regardless of which origins are older, PMR took a practice and hypothesis, and gave it scientific and clinical efficacy 100 years ago (hardly "trendy"). Jacobson is responsible for PMR, and its very much not trendy name, reaching countless more souls than would have otherwise. Additionally, by starting peer reviewed, longitudinal, quantitative, and qualitative studies - as well as forming the Smith scale - PMR has allowed this type of exercise to be recommended, prescribed, and taught to those who otherwise would not have had the means or knowledge for decades, and has forced our broken capitalistic healthcare system to pay for it (but not Yoga). I would say neither PMR, nor Yoga, deserve to be slighted as "trendy" or have their value decreased.
God Bless you for this video ❤

I honestly didnt get much calmer. Tensing my muscles makes me wanna punch somebody. (exactly what my therapist doesnt want)
POV:Your here from your Health class T^T
The only problem with this is that you say "breathe in and notice the air filling your lungs". Most people only breathe with the top of their torso, which is shallow breathing. As a mindfulness meditation volunteer-teacher, I prefer breathing into my lungs AND tnen my abdomen.
Hey I have a homework about this, someone can give me a resume? lof u
