    @@johncoops6897 this is not true at all I work for a oil change place, some cars require the gasket to be replaced every oil change this is mainly Hyundai and Kias sometimes Hondas, most chevys, fords and dodges don’t have to be replaced everytime a lot of them have a metal plug with rubber gasket, some fords have a plastic plug which sucks ass, the thing we mainly go off of tho is if it has a metal gasket it probably needs to be replaced so we usually replace metal gaskets anyways even if it’s not bad just so it won’t come back on us

    Lol, what? No, drain it out the plug first, then it all goes into the bucket. The same amount of oil is going to be removed either way. Also, you only prefill oil filters that are vertical, not horizontal like this video… otherwise it gets dumped out when you try to put it on.

    I got two extras , 1 If the oil is a little warmed up it gets out easier 2 put a little oil in the oil filter so it won’t start dry

  • @TadVarn

    On most engines, when you remove the oil filter, which is situated not completely vertical, like here sideways or sometimes even upside down, you get a good splash of oil down to the sump, because you let the air in the lubrication system. Thats why you should firstly unscrew or change the filter and only then, after some time, plug the sump back. You can change more oil this way.

    I’d also like to add that after making sure you added enough oil, you should start the engine for a few seconds to fill the oil filter and check the level again

    I know this is nit picky but try and oil the oil filter rubber seal and put oil in the oil filter. It’s always something I’ve done ever since I’ve gotten into mechanics and it’s actually a pretty decent habit too get into for full longevity of your engine. Best of luck wrenching!

    One additional tip, change lose up the oil filter a bit to let the oil drain faster as their is about 400ml of oil still in there even if the oil cane seems empty. Good job

    To drain the oil even quicker allow the car to heat just until the temp guage starts to roll up then shut it off so it doesnt get too hot.

  • @Druid_Plow
    @Druid_Plow Жыл бұрын

    You should check oil level a 2nd time after running up to temp and cooling down again. Won't usually see a huge change but some might need an extra 1/2 quart or so.

    The drain plug and oil cap aren’t always under each other. In most cases, they aren’t, especially with Mitsubishi engines. (Yes, there are exceptions to that.) Also, never, ever, ever use Pennzoil. When you take you oil pan off you’ll find more sludge with engines that use Pennzoil type products than with Mobil or Valvoline.

    synthetic oil may be more expensive but it is much better for your engine, make sure to check your owners manual for the viscosity of the oil your car takes as well.
