    Let the car idle for 5 minutes before checking the oil. Turn off and wait another 5 minutes. Checking the oil first thing in the morning when the oil is completely cold can lead to incorrect readings.

    Decently clean doesn't mean the oil is good to go. Remember oil oxidation occurs during those times. Honda oil change. Normal: Every 10,000 km (6,000 miles) or 1 year. Severe: Every 5,000 km (3,000 miles) or 6 months.

  • @smallsimplestuff2791

    @smallsimplestuff2791

    9 ай бұрын

    You can check it when it’s either hot or cold, but I’ve found that to get the most accurate reading it’s best to wait until the engine is cold. Usually about 10-15 minutes should be long enough.

  • @TheStarwars2011

    @TheStarwars2011

    When its cold, when it is hot it isnt an accurate reading because the oil gets distributed throughout the whole engine, so it may look like its full when hot, but in reality, its because the oil is flowing

    I believe that yes, you can since the dipstick goes directly into the oil pan. Pour it in slowly so that it doesn’t spill. Using a small funnel might be helpful. This can take a lot longer but should still work just fine.

  • @caddyrack

    @caddyrack

    Жыл бұрын

    Do you know how small is the hole for the dipstick? You'll probably spill 90% of it. There is an appropriate cap to remove and fill the oil. But, if you THINK you can use the small hole...go right ahead. You're splitting hair with an axe..

  • @smallsimplestuff2791

    Usually off. Depending on the age of your car, you might need to turn off the car and let the engine cool down long enough so that the oil can flow back into the oil pan. This will allow you to get an accurate measurement. Usually about 10-15 minutes will do. With newer cars, you can probably check it while the car is running just fine. You can double check with an experienced mechanic or just turn off the car and wait a few minutes just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps!
