Bob and Brad demonstrate how to do a pushup when you are too weak.
Some of our astute followers have noticed me slurring my words. I am not drunk but working with Brad it would be justifiable. I had 6 infected cysts removed from my mouth (noncancerous) and I have residual scar tissue and numbness. I will try to do better. Thanks Bob.

It only takes persistence. I started out at -0-.! I now do 15 , 2 sets each after 3 months. They are the “old man”push-ups for those guys over 75 (me!) this push up is the kneeling variant w/ good form. The key is to try every day, w/o fail! It will work, just keep at it. I started a general workout hitting all areas w/ a band workout ( your bands!) ten months ago. Keep up your good work, I suspect you know how effective you are, by now!

I am 300 lbs. I tore my shoulder, arm, and back/SI joint/hip a year ago when thrown from a offroad machine. . Even doing girl push ups I can only do 10 to 12 and my wrist feel like they are going to snap. Pain in shoulder between rotary cuff. Due to the sharp pain I started to use 2 20lb dumbells and lay on a medical table and do chest presses. I do 3 x 15 then I repeat a second 3 x 15 at the end of my workout. The first set of 3 I feel the rotary cuff working hard at count 18 of 35, and the second set of 3 x 15 I start to feel it after just doing 10. Every other day. I also do chair curls. 10 lbs per arm 3 x 10 ct. I also do about 6 pulley machine resistance weighted exercises for my shoulder, arms, back, I also do box lifting PT exercises ground to waist, waist to shoulder, shoulder to above head, and carry, and 150 lb sled 50 ft. I'm doing a 4 hr a day Occupational heavy lifting PT rehab. 2 months timeframe. Starting weight 327 lbs. I have lost 27 lbs, need to lose 80 lbs more and get down to 220 lbs, on Keto diet.

If I had frozen shoulder should I avoid push ups?

Yes, we would recommend you avoid them until your frozen shoulder heals. After that, however, you should be able to do them again.

How come I get back pain after I do push ups? That's why I hate push ups. I make sure my back is straight, I activate my abs and glutes and all that good stuff, still, it makes my back miserable.

Hard to say for sure but if you are experiencing pain, we recommend not doing them. Try them this way in this video and see if that alleviates your pain

Try doing what I call “old man push-ups”. Brad demonstrated them. Do them on your knees not your toes.

Lifetime bests extremely straight body chest touch to full lock were 100 and 50 in 1min ... Now to be kind to joints and realistic on age I do yoga-style w/ fingers outward... far more movement sensible than the overly artificial "strict" western style
