Not to mention, when those cylinders are deactivated, they will run dry because there is nothing but an air spring. They will push all the oil back into the pan and you’ll have metal to metal contact. There are a bunch of Chevy GMC guys that are burning 3 quarts of oil per change because of the wonderful deactivation system, best thing you can do when you buy it new is to turn it off.

Can you do it remotely? I want to turn it off on my 2021 longhorn

I've got a 2013 SRT Jeep and that tab isn't available under the Fuel tab. I have the Parameter view level set to advanced. And I have a fresh code in Parameter access.

Make sure you disable “open up last tune on startup” then restart it, then open it again it should pop up

I put a 2020 Charger Hellcat drivetrain in a 2019 Challenger. Everything is fine except the speedometer won’t fit in dash. Can I get Challenger speedometer programmed to match Charger computer?

With a 2018 ram 2500 6.4, to deactivate the mds, will I need to send the pcm in to be unlocked or can it be read and licensed with the mpvi2+ through the obd2?

That truck and motor does not have MDS I believe

@anthonyostir1748 this one did from the factory. The owner had a shop do a non-mds cam swap on it but needed everything disabled in the pcm. Future reference, it did incase anyone else runs into this. Send the pcm to hp tuners/pay for the credits to unlock and disable it. It was pretty simple and if I can help anyone feel free to let me know I'll do what I can. Thanks for the reply.

@@joshuanetto9431I'd love to have it permanently disabled on my 2020 Ram 2500... I have a flowmaster muffler and it sounds stupid when in MDS (at least in the cab) so I always just tap the gear selector, but I'd love to not do that. I don't think it impacts fuel mileage anyways.

I have a 2019 challenger rt. I have purchased 2 credits and installed the unlocked PCM from you guys. The lean/fuel menu doesn't even show up as an option. Every other menu is there except that one. How do I disable MDS?

So, in the tools tab. Or the edit tab, there should be view and change it from basic to advanced. Disable the “open last tune on startup”. Close out the program, then open the editor again and open the file. You should be able to see it after that .

I have 2015 Ram Hemi 5.7..I downloaded my existing factory tune and when I open VCM editor/Engine Under Fuel Tab I DO NOT see the Lean /Fuel-Saving Tab

Make sure your not in beginner setting, select edit menu, click view and change it to advanced

You only need to do that if you are going for a hardware MDS delete (replace parts to disable it). This system seems to do it by reprogramming the PCM to not use MDS (soft disable)

Do I have to replace my cam to do this?

No, absolutely not. If you had to add a cam it would work badly in eight cylinder mode. No need to mess with anything and just put a smile on your face.

Do you need vehicle credits to do this, or just the Hp Tuners device?

Why would you want to disable advancing/retarding your timing?

Too bad it only looks so easy on your video I own a dodg charger 6.4 2022 and vcm suite does not read the software of my engine and shows software skipped all the time !!!
