So, happened upon your KZread because helping a guy who by the way, he’s the one with the shop, but whole mother convo….there. But have to say love how smart you are and straight forward about the bikes but seriously I hope you’re aware that I know you’re trying to dumb it down for folks to get and some do like myself that have had my hands on practically any motor out there including the kind that fly but I laugh cause you started to lose my friends with half the things you said. Im like wtf is a blowboal(?) Im having to google every part. Ive been riding for 2 years. Figured out something with working on a mc and (not positive this has to do with it but 80%sure)being a female is that every guy knows whats wrong til its time to ACTUALLY touch the bike and fix. Most stop there but youve got a few thatll adjust something just to look like an alpha. Ive also learned if you want it done right, learn and dobit your ownself!!! Ive got 1 guy(james at cycle engineering, waterloo,sc) i trust to give me advice and put on my back tires, and myself are the only ones thatll touch my bike again. Having said that, ive done a few things, oil sp etc and fixed a few things all from youtube videos such as yours so thank you, i appreciate you and some of us would be F**KED without you. I have a 2005 Honda shadow vlx 600 deluxe. I can run the bike as long as I want with no issues until I hit 70mph. Then the bike shuts down. I have changed spark plugs petcock carburetor and done oil change. Seemed to run fine. Took for test ride to see if same issue at 70 mph still happens and it does. Any advice?thanks. My bike has just had ignition, stator replaced recently. it will crank but not engage, im sure there is a short somewhere in my wiring harness that is not giving me power to lights , horn and instument power, then while charging the battery it will blow the battery caps off the battery... there is something crossed that is making my battery at risk of exploding. ANY IDEA's WOULD BE APPRECIATED

2000 Honda Shadow 1100 aero. Sputters then eventually dies usually after having to wait in traffic. Pulling choke down buys me some time to get a safe distance to pull out of traffic, but it still dies. Will restart and run after about 10 minutes of waiting. I've changed fuel filter, checked vent tube for restriction. And it was not restricted. Any idea? Also. After this the battery dies down to not being able to crank over and have to get jump start. Battery is new, water is good.

Had a misfire on a 1992 vt600 but was running changed the coils put in NGK coils and plugs bike ran about 5-10 mins stalled and won't fire... bypassed fuel relay to see if it would fire started but I had to have choke on and it ran horribly and stalled again when I turned off choke and gave it throttle.could this be a carb issue or fuel pump issue or both?

I have a honda shadow Aero 750 that always has to be on full choke to start. If i push the choke in, it immediately shuts off and then wont start again unless i jump it with my car. Hi I have a question on the ignition on a 2002 750 shadow, I bought it with no battery and the keys lost, so I have changed the ignition and have a new battery, everything is telling me that the battery has charge, no loose connections, checked wires for damage and traced them back as far as I could, I have looked to see if I have missed a wire and nothing, I even just ran the main power cables to the battery and nothing, I tested the ignition it’s good, the last thing I have is the battery is crap and it is showing a false charge. @@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS on eBay a seller wants $125 for a used CDI unit, and the bike uses two of them being a twin cylinder. An new aftermarket unit would probably be $20, and they're a relatively simple device. Just need to figure out the wiring.

my bike is running but as soon as I try to put it in any gear it will cut off and I had the chan came off and it did get in a bend and snap at the master Link and it damaged the kick stand sinser so I tried by passing it as shown on video and as well as the cluch but it still will shut off as try to put it in gear so I went and got another kick stand sinser and put it on and still the same thing what could be wrong and like I said the bike is running but will cutting off when I try to put it in gear

I just came across your channel and I need help as I'm at the end of my basic mechanic knowledge which on bikes isn't very much I've really only worked on cars for a majority of my life and seems like bikes are way more temperamental..kinda like having a super naggy wife..anyway I have a 1986 vt1100c and I've cleaned the carburetor twice, replaced the dry rotted hoses, replaced the fuel pump, brand new fuel filter and put a brand new battery in and tested my fuses all fuses were perfect well for some reason it idles just fine and it'll get me one mile down the road just fine but after 1 mile it starts popping and jerking around and trying to stall out but if I pull the clutch and completely let off the throttle for a few seconds it'll buy me a couple of minutes then it does it again any idea on what could be causing this? Trying to avoid taking it to a shop because times are tough and I'm running low on money

@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS It's getting fuel. I swapped the coils and the front cylinder is still the only one getting spark. I'm going to test the plug wires tomorrow for continuity but the chance of both of those going bad all of a sudden is rare. Does a CDI module just go out like that, all of a sudden? It was running great when I parked it a week ago. I tested the yellow/blue wire going to the coil for continuity and it's good. I just read where the black/white wire is 12 volt pos. and I was thinking that was ground so I'm going to check that tomorrow also. It started up today and only ran on one cylinder, then died, I tried to start it again and the 10 amp fuse for the starter was blown. I replaced the fuse and it started up but still only on one cylinder. I appreciate any help you can give. I was a honda mechanic about 40 years ago, back when they had points. I removed the fuel pump 10 years ago and it's ran fine up till now

Great videos 👍 what could be the issue on my 2005 vt 750 shaft driven, it won’t go into neutral when the engine is running, it goes into first and second fine but when I try select neutral it goes straight past it and into second gear, it will however go straight into neutral once I’ve turned the engine off, any advice? Most bikes have the same issue I think, it's the way the gear pedal tube is made 🤔, I'm very ignorant but I was investigatin this as well

Check battery with load tester. It may be on the verge of dropping too low in cranking voltage w/ a load.

I have a 99 honda shadow 750 the bike is coming off a 5yr sit, installed a new battery, rebuilt both carbs, drained and cleaned the tank, replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, new plugs, every thing was fine for about 75 miles, then it wouldn't start acting like it was starving for fuel, after trying for 45 min it finally started, got home sprayed half a can of carb cleaner through it changed the filter that did not appear to be clogged, it ran good for about 60 miles, went to start it a couple of days ago it will start but only idle for about 2 minutes then die or it will die the instant I hit the throttle, getting very frustrated I need help

I have a 1997 honda shadow VT1100 ACE I replaced the clutch on the bike. When I press the clutch to put it into gear it grabs the gear and kills the bike. I adjusted the cable all the way up and all the way down and it still does the same thing.

86 vt700c carbs cranks runs but stumbles low speed. When it picks up it will scream. Trouble is can't adjust #1 carb out when it starts acting right the pilot screw treads out. I have paid out about 650.00 over a year. Different people and no one has gotten it right. I know #1 carb is too lean. Well I think. You wouldn't be planning a trip to Atlanta any time soon would you? I'm about ready to put it in the river. ( I live on the Chattahoochee ) Help please it's my only trans. The only time I don't ride is when there is ice on the ground !!

07 Honda Areo hot it in and Estate sale previous owner used seafoam and left it in carb resulting needle broke in holder on removal, replace both. Cleaned carb using carb dip and sonic clean, checked all fuel and air passages all clear. bike ran rich checked intake boot and replaced. Adjusted mixture screw Idle drop good. Now rear cylinder runs 214 f while front 130f. Rear cylinder vacuum line to peacock issue, if I plug it with my finger engine dies immediately. Checked Reed valve, good. Removed prior check valve (reed valve) bike starts, plug peacock vacuum line bike dies. Disconnect all Pair Control Valve start bike plug peacock vacuum line bike dies. That's where I am on it.

Hello, maybe you might help. I bought a 2011 injected phantom that runs just fine when the engine is cold but after a short ride and the engine is warm the idle drops to low rpms every time i stop to a traffic light and the engine eventually dies multiple times. Then it also struggles to turn on again if you don't accelerate a bit and you can also hear some backfires when decelerating. Any thoughts?

Stop riding!! If you cant understand that's a bad speedo cable, or loose cable...than you shouldn't be on 2 wheels

I went by your minimal wiring diagram for Honda shadow and I’m having trouble cranking, the ignition engages but no start! When initially tested it I got it fired up once and l changed fuses and it worked. After retaping new harness it quit starting again, same as before! Do you have any suggestions?

I bought my first project bike from a storage unit the carbs were off put them back on added fuel noticed it isn't getting spark replaced the igniters and coils still no spark replaced the battery cables then it was sparking got it to run good then sut it off went back to it later on in the day tried to start it again no spark check the wiring got power going in to motor comes out but check the igniters are getting power

i was bobbing out my 02 750 shadow and got everything ready and decided to take it out that night to see how it felt... forgot to tighten the filter housing. fell off, totally disappeared can’t find it. so... it runs like PURE CRAP just sputters. i put on pods but still runs horrible. altitude is 1200 with cobra pipes with baffles anyone know where i should start jetting??! im at 40 pilot and 105 and 110 mains no shins. carbjetkits.com says 42 115 and 118 but for the amount of air this doesn’t seem like enough fuel! any help would be much appreciated!!

Hi tommy,i have a 2001 shadow vlx vt600cd,I cleaned the carburator very well as u told me,and the choke is back to work perfectly,and I replaced the jets with the stock jets.now the bike is working wonderfully with a little issue,I still have some popping or coughing in the carbutor every now and then specially when I try to blip the throttle.and by the way,the pilot screw is almost 4 turns out .after 3 turns,nothing is changing as far as idling.what do u think the problem is?and do u think the air cut off valve has anything to do with it?because I replaced that too.please hit me back with your rich and useful information.thanks in advance,and your time is appreciated.

Been watching a lot of your videos trying to help a friend of mine who has an 02 VTC1100C2. Right from a cold start, the front cylinder exhaust gas is hot hot but the rear is almost cold. Rear does warm up slightly over time but we can't figure out what to look at to fix it. Has spark, fuel, it runs but kinda choppy, backfires occasionally, and he said it kinda dies when he really tries to gas it. Should we be looking into compression or carbs or something else? Could this be an electrical problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We've replaced coils, checked hoses for loose connections, and the basics spark fuel etc. I have a sportster so I'm out of my element trying to fix his bike.

Solenoid, starter, coils, stator, regulator .....lots of things in the electrical system.........or very simply a wire grounding is loose (negative). Start with the easiest: Check all wire connections. I am not a mechanic, but a similar thing happened to me and it turned out to just be that the negative wire to the battery had come loose. Don't just look at the connections, tug on them a little and use a wrench to tighten the battery wires. I remember in a small engine repair class that the instructor said just using a screwdriver to tighten the terminal connections on batteries isn't enough. ...use an appropriate wrench/socket. My bike was like an on and off again situation that was driving me nuts, until he told me to check the negative connection on the battery. ..... If that negative isn't good, you'll go through batteries because they can't recharge while riding.

if the temp light come on then yes. otherwise, no clue. welcome to owning a motorcycle!!!! get a service manual asap. and remember the diagnostic tree is fuel, spark, compression!

I have a 2000 1100 Shadow Saber just replaced the fuel lines , filter and pump . The bike runs on starting fluid for a few seconds. It is missing some hoses up by the top of the head and the carb area. I’m thinking lack of compression from missing hoses and parts they go to may be the culprit. What are your thoughts?

Replace the regulator. i did that tonight and the battery stayed at nominal levels even after holding the ignition a lot. Finally got my bike to run tonight.

Please help its my only way around right now and ive got a 03 shadow and runs good untill I run at 55 for min and it gets sluggish and can feel it burping from the air filter and a little backfire and I can let it sit for min and its fine till I get to 55 lol is that my fuel pump ?

I believe that the 03 did not come with a fuel pump it was gravity fed. Carb might need to be cleaned(main jet circuit clogged)

I found a fuel pump and replaced it runs great now .just didn't want to pay 80 for one got one for 15 online and looked like the old one

@@hillbillybackwoods8564 I ended up hitting up Justin Alexander. If you’re in the Honda group you know who I’m talking about lol and he sold me a rebuild and air filter kit. Ended up taking the entire bike apart and chopping it up and re wiring it and now a month later it purrs like a kitten 🤟🏽

I just got a 2002 VLX 600C. I have an issue with taking off. Letting out the clutch is good but rolling out the throttle, it wants to choke out. If I keep the choke on though, it has proper amount of fuel going in to take off. What the hell? Is it my throttle cable?

Joe Milich I have a 97 vlx 600 with the same issue when the bike is hot. I wonder if it's the carburetor being dirty? I have straight pipes and my rear cylinder is 20 psi low even after I did the valves.

It just came out of the shop possibly 2 weeks ago. Maybe it wasn't brought up to the mechanic when it was brought in to the shop. The previous owner's weren't entirely sure of what they bought, or paid for when they took it in.

We got sold a bunch of lies by the motorcycle dealers who told us the Shadows were rock solid bikes that would last forever. Motorcycles aren't new, they've been around for 100 years, by now they should be rock solid reliable. There should be no Honda Shadow problems A to Z.... at least you shouldn't have to look it up until you've had the bike 20 years... not 2.

Calm down. please. The problems come from misuse and neglect. They ARE rock solid bikes, if they aren't owned by a dipshit or fucked up by neglect. No one sold you lies, and even new shit breaks, so maybe temper those expectations with reality. Any production item has potential to fail, and you can either let it get under your skin, or attempt to fix it, or, get something else. But seriously, nothing made by humans is gonna last forever. I find that to be a comforting thought.

@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS Everything on this bike is plastic. If the Shadow is so great, why are the Facebook forums full of posts of people having all kinds of problems with them? My 1980's Hondas never had all these different kinds of problems. There was no bloody vacuum line to the fuel petcock, no water cooled radiator system with a thermo sensor to break and a fan not to run, no carbs buried deep in the bike you couldn't get to, no LCD screens to burn out in the sun, no computer wires to get frayed every time you lifted up the computer to put a battery in and out, no kickstand safety switch to kill your bike from running as soon as you put it in gear. I just tore apart my entire engine trying to figure out why it suddenly no longer ran. Kickstand switch. Are you shlttin' me? Are you shlttin' me!!! Like, WTF man, WTF!

And then I look at the useless bit of plastic box meant to contain a missing owners manual, yet not large enough to house something useful like a toolkit... but nobody cared to extend the plastic rear fender down just 6 more inches to actually keep every bit of sand, mud and dirt from impacting the U of the swing arm... and I retort to myself... Update Got the carbs out again and checked them , put it back together, bike starts both cylinders only with choke on but when you give it throttle it dies

I would disconnect your reservor lines and blow through all of them and do the same with the carb, make sure your floats aren't sticking, I disconnected the three-way that runs from the carb to the rear head. Somehow how it was pushing air into my carb and not letting the fuel go through

He has been scratching his head for awhile and me I would have already had them off them bikes and done what you do which is a full clean and redress. That’s the only way to really know it’s truly done right for a bike that’s been siting as long as these two bikes have. And now they sit in this guys shop. Im like wtf is a blowboal(?) Im having to google every part. Ive been riding for 2 years. My battery is from 2008 lol just took a crap on me

I changed plugs and my bike still backfire the wife added farm fuel gas and it is green

@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS it's not even pumping fuel into the filter and I stuck a Philips screw driver into the filter and it has red powder in it like rust going to get a new filter today

Put new battery no power no place
