Thanks again! belt tensioner this last weekend, steering shaft diagnosis today. I was able to lube it and get it smoother and easier to turn, but I will put it on my list to replace as this is my 16 yr old's car. Glad you have or work on early 2000's Camrys.

@@RBTheMechanicHello Sir. 2013 Kia Sorento has no pump noise but when you take a 90 degree turn it has a strange stiffness and doesn’t want to turn to center. It will return if you jerk it but it should freely turn to center on its own. I believe it’s the intermediate shaft. Your thoughts please.

@@RBTheMechanic I just confirmed that it’s the rack. I took off the inner tie rod boot to inspect it and the rack shaft was basically bone dry with rust debris and water droplets were visible. The free play is coming from within which resulted from a seal failure. Thanks for responding.

Hi! Would love ur advice. My 01 Toyota corolla started making knocking noises but I ignored thinking something just fell in there or something. After months, my steering wheel became hard to turn. When it’s slow, and you turn, it’s like your trying to turn over some rocks or something. Already changed the serpentine belt but not much changed and there’s no leak in the steering fluid. Does the pump need to be changed?

Try to check this start the car make sure it’s nice and warm then turn steering right and left if u see rpm rise that means pump is building pressure and it’s putting load on engine that’s a sign ur pump is good but if u don’t see rpm change then it’s bad pump start with replacing power steering pump

I have a gx470. I have the same issue and someone told me I need to replace the LOWER steering shaft, they didn’t look at it, only going off my word. My issue is the same as the one in this video, is there any reason it wouldn’t be the lower shaft or do I have to have some check them both to be positive. Thanks!

This is common problem on these Lexus u can try check it before anything if ur car has over 80k miles I would just replace it regardless and see the outcome

Look and check if fluid level is up to level and if there’s bubbles? Start it up on cold day turn it right left then turn it off and check the bottle

HELP! 2004 TOYOTA RX330, hard steering. There's fluid in the power steering reservoir yet still Hard to turn. Can't tell if this is the power steering pump, rack opinion, or the coupling, and I do not want the shop to rip me off😣. I have a 2011 harrier hybrid and I have this problem as we speak. I'm getting code C1555. It's an electronic steering system. I spray the connector on the rack and pinion but still having hard steering.

Not sure why would it do that with tire change but it could be replace to power steering system either pump or steering rack u might need mechanic to check it out also watch this video it is very common on these have mechanic take it look it can cause this type of locking up kzread.info/dash/bejne/g51kpMOgo8-pc8o.html

When ur moving the steering has assist from road so u need to do some diagnostic my Honda Accord this morning had no power steering cuz temp dropped from 56 degree to 35 and the o-ring seal on power steering line shrunk and it let air in the system the steering was maki g whining noise I had steering when moving the car but that was from traction on road so if ur having the wining noise it most likely is the o-ring I’ll make a video when I replace mine Friday watch this video on mine at :30 seconds in to video I point at the 10mm bolt the or-ring is u see that ur honda has same just diffrent set up it’s very common issue on these Honda’s

I have Opel Vectra 2.2 dti and when the car is outside and its cold the steering whell is wery hard to turn it. After 3-5 killometters of driving when car is warmer the situation improves and steering whell it becomes softer to turn. What solution can be here , must replacing pump? New Oil? Thnx.

I have 2001 corolla and have a stiff steering wheel but if it is left over nigh it get softer almost back to the original. Howerever it only last about 45 minutes and it will get quite stiff again. What is the problem with this?

What’s if the power steering locked up while driving it one second it was good then I tried to turn and it was real tight out of nowhere do you no what caused that? Bad pump or bad rack and pinion?

Were you able to find the solution. I have a corolla and i have the same issue of steering getting stuck only when turning right and its fine after few seconds.

• My Honda Civic Hybrid 2009 Steering wheel is getting hard whenever I start the car, then after sometime automatically stiffness is getting off. I am facing issue mostly at the time of starting or restarting the car. And, am forcefully turning and driving due to steering is so hard. Recently my local mechanic replaced used working one Rack & Pinion but still the issue exist. Again i went to the mechanic but they unable to find out the root cause. I am just depressed due to my vehicle. I appreciate if you let me know what’s the issue.

Don’t think so never had that case and it wouldn’t make sense for it to brake unless the line is part of the rack

Either ur pump is not building pressure or steering rack one of these are the problem I would start with power steering pump before tacks the steering rack

I have a 2007 yaris hatchback, 130,000 miles . My car just started to get hard to turn when turning left or right. After turning it won’t happen for a while but then again after a while it’ll get hard to move when turning

My steering wheel won't even turn like that

Thumbs down worthless video most of today's cars have electric power steering driven by an electric motor it doesn't use fluid, in more likely can be affected by a fuse.
