    Aarfeen Anees it depends how old the frogs are in the pet store. If they're new morphs generally none of them would exhibit any male signs until around the 10-12 month mark when males hit sexual maturity. Seeing if they call is the best way to see if it's a male. :)

    thanks for including your frog calling in the video my man. I had assumed both of mine were female because ive never seen one make noise, and the other only ever barked at me (rescue frog so I was probably hurting her/him some when I picked her up but she's good now) but then 2 nights ago while feeding, im pretty sure I heard one of them calling! lol it definitely was more repetitive than a bark. so tonight im gonna sit them down and let them listen to your frog.

    Ice Glow there's no special needs for a particular gender. The ONLY thing I can think of that would even be slightly annoying to some owners would be a male calling. I LOVE when my little acapella of frogs start singing, the only time it impacts anything is if I'm watching a movie and I can't hear what's being said. But it honestly doesn't phase me when they do because I love when they sing. I hope your new frogs give you as much joy as mine do :) thank you for your kind words.

    Hey, I read on internet that frogs should be given food dusted in vitamin/calcium powder. Can I use any vitamin/calcium powder coz where I live no one sells supplements specially made for reptiles/amphibians? (I found them online but still, will normal supplements work for amphibians)?

  • @frecklethefrog1156

    Aarfeen Anees any sort of supplement should be given with the intended animal it's designed for. Giving different sorts of animals different types of supplements they're not designed for could be very detrimental and even cause death. I'd advise buying the online one. You don't need to sprinkle a lot onto the food, and the little container lasts a long time! :)

    Callum McK frogs will get along the same if they do or don’t have company. I certainly do have Magnificents with my Green Trees. Their environment is very similar, same with the species. The genetics are so close they can actually hybridise young. The more the merrier. Just keep in mind 50cm x 50cm should be a base minimum size for 4 frogs. Anymore in that radius can cause stress.

    Ice Glow valid issue. With only 2 frogs you should be okay but if it does worry you, I would feed them seperate or feed them a minimum by hand so you at least know they've eaten. An issue of feeding them together is accidentally eating. They may swallow the other frogs arms, leg, (lucky they can't chew). After a while they'll give up or just simply separate them if this happens

    Freckle The Frog again thank you! I have another question (sry for bugging you with all these questions, I'm just trying to get all the info I can so I'm totally prepared for them): I read that I need a 2.0 UVB light bulb for them but i was wondering what kind of bulb you use and how long you keep it on for? • @frecklethefrog1156

    @frecklethefrog1156

    7 жыл бұрын

    Ice Glow I have a 2.00 UVB globe in mine, but as I have a large tank I have a high wattage. Always know that they can't have too much UV. They only absorb what they need, so bigger can be better, and it's hard to go wrong. Small tank, smaller globe, big tank, larger globe. No dramas at all. I love being to help frog lovers and owners as best I can :)

  • @frecklethefrog1156

    @frecklethefrog1156

    6 жыл бұрын

    Justin Reitsma it's so important to get frogs their UVB. A UVB 5.00 globe is needed to achieve the sufficient amount of daily UV they need. You can't cure MBD, but you can certainly prevent it in future situations. A coil globe or tube globe will do, just make sure the frog has direct light from it (not blocked from glass). The size of your globe depends on the size of your tank. Big tank, getting a bigger globe.

    Justin Reitsma excellent! They're hardy creatures and can go without without essentials for a while before any real issues occur. Best source of hearing is by a water heater within a pond. This helps raise the humidity in the tank as well, which is what is in their natural environment :) glad to hear the little guys okay.

    Making sure they're Dumpy Tree Frogs would be my first step. These native Australian frogs can get big. Some get big enough to eat small mice. So making sure they're the right frog would be best. I've been to some pretty bad pet stores in my life, and found some frogs living in some not so great conditions. I've picked up some from there because I know they will have a better life with my care. It's up to you if you want to buy them from there or not. :) I hope those frogs go to some amazing homes.

    Patty Surmann good question! Frogs don't need special attention depending on their gender. They will live together happily. The female is usually get bigger than the male but that shouldn't be an issue as long as they're a similar size. Although males can call and clasp females and form amplexus, they're quite fussy breeders. They won't lay unless conditions are right. It includes a lot of water, rain tanks ect. They won't usually breed unless certain requirements are met so there is no need to stress :)

    Troy Steinbugl natively, between November to February when it’s the wet season over summer. It can vary in captivity. Mimicking the environment will prove best for them to breed
