    I had two for 5 years until my friend “accidentally” killed them. Anyways they’re amazing and I plan on getting another pair. I had a male super snowflake with literal gold and dark green. And a bright blue female from petal. They’re amazing and I love watching them eat. Spinning their whole body to aim for prey. Super super good pets. Not easy, they dont create bonds but they’ll stay chill

    Hi Lou. Please forgive the length of this, I want to be sure you have all the info. I received my first beautiful little Dumpy frog approximately 24 hours ago and she/he has not moved from the spot she landed in when I put her in her enclosure. She has buried herself in the leaf litter with only her eyes peeking out and there appears to be a film over them at all times. I know they have 3 lids and will close all or some when they feel they’re in danger and sleeping obviously, but the only other things in her enclosure are springtails and isopods and I’ve yet to see her eyes clear. I was able to get her to take one cricket last night when I stayed up late to observe her, but when I offered more she just kept turning away in her own 2 inch circle and refused any more. She allowed me to pick her up and hold her briefly, but if it’s just stress I certainly don’t want to stress her any more. I’ve done all my homework and more regarding care with a temp gradient, humidity level, enclosure set up, etc. I’m truly concerned. because I’ve read several reviews about the company I got her from and every one states how active, inquisitive, healthy, etc., the animals are right out of the box and she is the exact opposite. I understand some take a little longer to acclimate, but I’m not exaggerating when I say she hasn’t moved from that one spot in almost 24 hours. I know they’re nocturnal so I didn’t get too worried until I observed her many (many) times throughout the night and she was still in that one spot. I’m sick with worry. Thank you very much.

    Hi there! Just found your channel as I’m looking into getting 2-3 of these lil guys. I’ve been fostering injured/sick frogs and toads for over a year now and have been studying herpetology on my own time for longer and I think it’s time for me to find some babies to keep full time as well. I have been looking into Whites specifically and this video was very very helpful! I haven’t cared for this breed before but I have for Cubans, Southern Leopards and American Greens. I’ve definitely cared for more toads than frogs though so my knowledge is more extensive with toads. Do you have a video with recommended products with links or anything? I obviously want to do this right and give them the best life possible! You just seem incredibly knowledgeable and I would really really love to hear your recommendations. I can message you on social media if you’d like instead. Thank you so much in advance if you are able to get back to me!🙏🏼 Keep doin yo thang and educating the public about these beautiful creatures! They deserve more admiration and are so overlooked or thought of by stupid stereotypes. I would feed them in the evening. Mine are fed between 8 pm and 10 pm but in the summer they are awake a little earlier so I'll feed them. Crickets, dubia roaches, meal worms, etc. are all good food to try. Make sure it's not too large to avoid choking. Hey Lou It's been some weeks since I started to look at all your white tree frogs related videos because I'm looking forward to grow up one (or two? 🤔) and I found them very entertaining! I'm kinda scared about the insects stuff, do you think I really need to breed crickets at home or can I just buy them like every week? And what about the bioactive cleaning crew? I'm building a terrarium with real plants, drainage layer and stuff and I was wondering if you think I should add them to the enclosure and just overcome my fear of insects running all around my room or maybe I can wait at least till I get confident with feeding crickets and worms... Thank you, have a nice day 🐸

  • @LifeWithLou

    @LifeWithLou

    2 жыл бұрын

    Breeding crickets can be a bit tricky so buying them weekly isn’t a problem at all! As for the clean up crew, I would definitely recommend getting some! They mostly stay hidden and the chances of them escaping into your room are very slim. If you can, I would let the clean up crew establish a colony before adding any frogs so that they don’t all get eaten right away 😂 It gets easier over time to handle bugs and before you know it you’ll be handling them no problem!

    get the largest size you can afford currently - if you get a smaller setup you will end up spending way more money buying another setup when they get bigger, especially if things like the heating equipment or uvb lights are sized for a smaller enclosure. just make sure to have the enclosure fully set up and essentially running for a few days before adding the frogs, since it can be difficult to really tune in on the humidity and heat and you dont want the frogs to dry out or get too cold

    A container with small holes for ventilation makes a great home for crickets. Paper towel on the bottom with empty toilet paper rolls or egg cartons for hiding spaces. I feed mine veggie scraps from whatever we’re having for lunch or dinner that day! It’s important to not let too many dead crickets lay around in the bin, so I do maintenance on it once a week or so. There are also cricket keepers sold at most pet stores, although they are quite small.

Do you have any recommendations on putting my frogs together? I am slightly worried about how feeding them together will go and I am worried the shy one will be afraid of the other one so I wanted to ask for advice. Also, I use UVB for my frogs both but don’t use a heat bulb since my house actually stays around the temp that’s good for them. Hi, I know this video was kinda a while ago so you may not respond but I wanted to try anyway. I've had my white's tree frog for about 2-3 months now and I am starting to get a little concerned. She is not active at all, not croaking, doesn't eat very often, but her body shape is normal, no redness, no spotting, but she is always brown. Her natural color is a light green but whenever she is in her enclosure, she is brown. When I take her out she becomes more green. I just don't really know what I am doing wrong. I am attempting to feed her everyday, Her temperature is around 23 degrees celsius, her humidity is 55-60%, her enclosure is full of plants, things she can climb on, and a water dish. The water dish is a little shallow but I don't know if that is necessarily a problem. Anyway, I am just asking for a little advice on how I can make her feel less stressed, move around more, be a color of a frog, and just do more.. frog things.

    Hi! It seems like you really love your froggy friend and have provided a great home. I have a few questions to hopefully help figure out what’s going on. The first is, are you noticing any poops around the enclosure? If so, this is a great indicator that she is in fact eating. Due to frogs being nocturnal, you may not notice any activity unless you’re up really early in the morning or check in late at night. Females typically are much more quiet than their male counterparts, so if she is female she won’t be croaking all that much. As far as colour goes, whites tree frogs do change colours quite often depending on activity level, temperature, whether they’re sleeping, and a whole range of other reasons. For example, I notice that early in the mornings, Relish is much darker than he would be when he’s more awake at night. Something I like to do, is weigh my pets once a month. I use a kitchen scale and keep track in a notebook. I refer back to previous weights to see if anything has changed. This is another good way to ensure they’re eating and growing! If you do notice any serious changes or you’re still concerned, I’d recommend looking into what exotic vets are available in your area and what they specialize in. Hope this helped a little bit!

    @@lucykay4375 I'm so sorry to hear that. It's incredibly difficult losing a pet and I'm sending you my love and positive energy. Frogs are very good at hiding any issues they may have and I'm sure it wasn't your fault. 💕

    Frogs change colours for multiple reasons. It's likely due to a temperature or lighting change. My boys are much darker during the day when they're sleeping in the shade but will brighten up in the light or when they're awake.
