I just wipe down engine bays with a damp towel that has been dunked in the cleaning bucket. So the towel is only damp and you can wipe it over most surfaces and you are getting a 90% improvement with very little risk of issues. The worst I’ve suffered is knock a plug off which is an easy fix once you find which plug was knocked. A clean engine bay helps find issues before they become problems. Same with a normal wash, It gives you the time to look for issues like leaking suspension, brakes, rust loose parts etc.

I hadn't considered using All Clean for the engine bay. Thank you for the demonstration. I'd been using the cheap can degreaser when doing engine bays on the Jeep and the Ram. To reduce water, I use a two way siphon hose with the air compressor to reduce water. It's a cheap attachment purchasable at Amazon. I also didn't know that you could use ceramic under the hood. Learned alot watching this!

Y’all are crushing it. Appreciate the videos and exceptional products. Can you provide some light on quick beads, in regards to would “better” results and longevity come from cleaning, rinsing, blower dry, THEN quick beads, and followed with final rinse and dry. Regardless of engine bay or exterior, I am curious if applied to a cleans dry surface is the wrong approach! I know it is water activated chemistry. But is that water activation needed when it is applied or just when rinsed…..or both?

A big thing to watch out for is older Cars, mid2010s and back, that have a weird intake manifold/injector/plug set up. Water can sit and dwell around those plugs and injectors so just make sure the car can sit for a few days unplugged and blow out all wiring harness sheathing and all those tricky injector areas and hit it all with compressed air. Wd40 makes a great contact cleaner(I'm an electrician and use it all the damn time), works great to displace water out of those harness sheaths as well if need be

@The1Music2MyEars depends on which WD40 formula, if it's contact cleaner than yeah thats probably fine. And depends on the injectors too, alot of injectors have exposed o rings seated halfway out of the fuel rail. You don't want to dry rot those at all. Alot of strong cleaning chemicals will dry rot rubber, I had to learn that the hard way. Wd40 contact cleaner is usually pretty ok with rubber, but I'd still give them a light coating of Silicone grease after the fact.

Also, I will typically clean the cold air apparatus separately with just mild soapy water with fingers, rinse, and let air dry.

Afew things you should do whether youre a pro or this is your first time is make sure the dip sticks and caps are all fastened and tight before spraying anything with water. Also give the engine oil filler neck a little tug and a wiggle to make sure the seal is good. The last thing you need is a customer suing you because their mechanic found water and cleaning agents in their oil. I always cover the ecu and alternator as those should not be exposed to running water. Better to be safe than sorry. Lastly, keep a can of wd40 around incase a pulley starts squeaking after the wash. I did the engine bay on my Mazda 6 GT. I covered the alternator with a towel and proceeded to detail. Everything was fine afterwards. Car started, engine looked good, then came the following day when I was driving my sensor went off and it turned out to be my alternator. Don't know if it was coincidence or something I did when detailing. I now have a fear of it. I'm not mechanically inclined so breakdowns are my biggest fear

It sure is but it's actually not that bad when you've washed an engine bay a few times and get past the smells that come off the exhaust once the sealants or any residues burn off and the accessories and pullies fully dry out and the squeaks go away.

Won't getting Quick Beads on the Serpentine Belt make it slip? Your product description sounds like something you do not want to get on your belts. "Quick Beads can be lightly sprayed onto a clean wet surface, then activated with a garden hose or pressure washer to produce a deep gloss and solid protection. Quick Beads not only gives you a slick UV-resistant coating but is also incredibly fun to apply".

  • @diydetailofficial

It doesn’t bond well to rubber, and the very little amount will not impact the belt.
