    Hey man, just a slight addendum to the basics of reactions - Each player has a base Reaction allotment of one reaction per phase. But you're right that each unit is only able to react once per phase, a player may only make a maximum of 3 reactions per phase. I think it isn't clear when you're covering the basics. Nevertheless, an excellent video as always!

    The rules for the Deep Strike and Flank Assaults reserve deployment types states that you deploy all the units, then resolve pinning for enemy units within 6", then resolve Interceptor, so it is only when you are bringing units on 1 at a time from normal reserve on your own board edge that you can bait the Interceptor reaction. (p311 of the rulebook, paragraphs 3 and 11 for the deep strike/outflank)

    Love the videos man. Top notch, A+ and great source. Have you considered doing a show about Challenges? I know they're pretty straightforward but all the nuances of when to 100% issue, when to refuse and who to nominate would be really useful for an eejit like me

    I love your videos and appreciate the work you put into them and the information you give. You have done videos on all the legions but would you do one on black shields? I think they give cool options and are an option that are less known about. Keep up the good work!

    I feel that Hearesy will be doing a video when they come out, but IIRC Black Shields do not currently have rules in 2.0.

    I dont think you can return fire out of range as per the return fire reaction text: "The Reacting unit may make a Shooting Attack, targeting the unit that triggered the reaction and following ALL THE USUAL RULES for shooting attacks"

    Hey mate, loving the videos. Does brace mean that legions like Blood angels and Sons of Horus don’t get their legion special rules in Melee? As I read it, it stops bonuses from successful charge with SoH-1 strength being a bonus to successful charge

  • @Hearesy

    Thanks Dave! No, it doesnt stop those, it just makes the charge disordered. Its still a successful charge, just no +1 attack. Also it’s called Hold the Line, not Brace, I found out yesterday. No idea where my brain got that from!

    Also, anything with Night Fighting ignores shroud! Shooting at targets past 24" at night can mean they often cannot react at all.

    With baiting out movement phase reactions can the movement phase reactions be performed at any time during the phase or only when the unit ends it's movement within 12. I had interpreted that it had to be declared when a unit moves but someone pointed out to me during a game the other day that the movement reaction conditions say "if" instead of "when" which they had interpreted as being at any point of the movement phase so long as the conditions are met. If this is the case there is rarely a reason to declare reactions except at the end of your opponents movement phase.

    Hey Hearasy I love your videos and as a new player I am finding them very very useful. I just wanna ask if you could use "they" instead of "he" when referring to your opponent? I know 99% of HH players are male but there are female players and it feels like most don't acknowledge us.

    You can't bait out Assault Phase Reactions. The sequence is: declare and roll all charges, see which ones are succesfull and only then Reactions are declared.

  • @Hearesy

    @Hearesy

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thats not how it works, although I could see how you could interpret it that way if you were of a mind to. Unfortunately the charge resolution steps in the assault phase are very clear, so the reaction rules saying “all” charge rolls is obviously meaning “all related to the charging unit” not “every charge roll in the army”.

  • @Gerendiell

    @Gerendiell

    @@Hearesy What would "all related to the charging unit" even mean? Even when charging multiple targets, you would only roll once.

    Standard games workshop bad writing. Bad writing in one sentence doesnt mean ignore everything else in the rulebook - thats the key to understanding gw rules. The assault phase very clearly has you completely roll, and then move, one charger at a time; overwatch takes place after the roll but before moving the unit. If we used your interpretation, the entire system would break at that point as the timings both completely conflict.

  • @Gerendiell

    @@Hearesy You are quite correct in that. It seems that goes on the pile of unclear and contradictory rules around the assault phase. It seems more and more that there was at least one major overhaul of the phase during testing and not everything was edited correctly in the end. To bad no one knows what the RAI should be in the end...
