    My first carburetor rebuild was on a 1979 Dodge Ramcharger. It was pretty easy, but I was panicking about why the rebuild kit had so many extra parts. Come to find out, the kit was for many different models of carburetors of different years, and the extras were for those other models. Live and learn from that first carb rebuild.

    I think that you placed the *main needle seat* from inside the venturi, does it not need to be inside the *main jet channel* from the float bowl side?

  • @freebirdsgarage

    @freebirdsgarage

    2 жыл бұрын

    You are correct, the needle seat is meant to be pushed through hole the main jet hole from underneath. Fixed it after the time of filming. Good eye sir!

    Needle jet goes in from the top? Like it just sets there around the needle? I thought it set in the bottom and got pushed in place by the needle jet holder

    The one that comes with the kit is just a round rubber one. If you are referring to the one next to the diaphragm.

    Great video, just rebuilt my '06 1200 carb and now it dumps gas out of the overflow when I attempt to start it. I've triple checked the float level and it seems fine. I replaced the enrichening cable during the process as well. Any suggestions on what else to check?

  • @freebirdsgarage

    @freebirdsgarage

    3 жыл бұрын

    Check your float needle and float bowel gasket that can be pinched very easy. That float could have a crack in the seem that causes it to way downs Triple check the level of the float at that 45 degree angle. If the float is pass that at all it will over flow, like you described.

    @@freebirdsgarage what a dumb *ss I am, I loosened the drain plug on the float bowl and forgot to tighten it down. Is it possible that would create enough of a vacuum leak to keep pulling gas? The carb would only pour gas out of the overflow when trying to start it, not while just sitting with the petcock open....

  • @freebirdsgarage

    @freebirdsgarage

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@johnmccool6875 Depending on which petcock you have. If you have a manual one it will continue to pour out, if you have the gas left on. If it's a vacuum style it will generally only come out when it tries to turn over.
