Dear Tinker, I also have a Harley FXSTD, mine is a 2001 (essentially the same bike and engine) with 102,000 miles on it. I thought your video was excellent and spot on. I rebuilt mine at 90,000 miles and really like the CV carbs. Food for thought you may want to install a DynaJet kit, or some variation like the Yost Performance Power Tube the while you are doing the rebuild. I noted a real increase in the responsiveness and thru the throttle range on my 2001 FXSTD and 1999 FXDX. The video, like all your video's, is very good and thank you for helping us to keep those twin cams running.

Anthony glad you enjoy the videos. Thanks for the heads-up on the jet kits. I've already increased the jet size in my carb which I also did when I rebuilt the engine. The carb is already back on the bike. Usually when I put a video up the job has been completed 2 weeks prior to putting them up. But again thank you for the information. Thanks for watching and ride that Deuce safe

I have a 2000 FXDWG. Someday I'll need to do a rebuild on my CV carb. Just a note: My service Manual says " Do not submerge inlet valve in cold acid dip". The valve's alloy will be etched/damaged... Thanks for the video.

Glad you liked the video. That is true with regular parts cleaner. I have a bucket with carburetor cleaner in it, it's specifically for carburetor's so it won't damage any of the parts. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

@Tinkering With Harleys Thanks, waiting on some nice weather. Going to be 120th Anniversary party this year. Lots of opportunities for us to spank some EFI bikes

Thank you. This was great. Extremely helpful. My fuel air mixture screw has what appears to be a pressed in cap. Should I be pulling that and cleaning in there as well? For context, this bike has been sitting, properly stored, for 20 years.

Thanks for the question, the cap your seeing was probably installed at the factory, so yes you can remove it. Since the bike has been sitting for 20 years I would recommend you rebuild the carb. After that length of time they'll be a lot of debris in it that needs to be removed. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

@@tinkeringwithharleys I was surprised, the carb was empty and clean, It certainly needed to be rebuilt as parts were a bit sticky, but over-all it was clean as a whistle. The previous owner knew what he was doing when he put it away. only issue I ran into was that the fuel shut off valve was seeping. Bike is now up and running. Thank you for your video and help. Shiny side up.
