    Thanks for the comment! Let me know how it works out for you! Quick "Beer League Tip" - After you mark out your stick, before cutting it, hold the stick in your ungloved blocker hand and make sure that your index finger knuckle lines up with the first side of the notch. My measurements are to my hand size so depending on your hands, you may need to make slight adjustments for the optimum fit. Good luck!

    from my experience, doing this on a composite stick works, just don’t cut into the stick TOO much. i would test it first though

    I just worked on shaving off the top corners of the paddle to get a lower (and better) grip on the stick. This works on a composite blade BUT some are hollow now / thin foam so definitely take a look at the paddle before doing it. You can’t cut too deep or you’ll have a hole in your stick, although some epoxy can be applied to plug the hole up

    I am a little late to this video of yours. Just looking at some of your older videos now. I hold my stick with index finger at the base of the paddle extention. I never thought about cutting a "trigger" nor ever heard of this before. But looking at the angle of your trigger and the angle of unmodified stick, it appears that your grip angle and my grip angle are similar.

  • @RoughRaiders13

    Allow me to say you ABSOLUTELY CAN trigger cut a composite goalie stick. I have a couple Bauer GSX goalie sticks and I have trigger cut them both with my jigsaw and they came out great. No holes or voids in the paddle to fill either. I know they are not top of the line sticks, but work just fine for my beer league. Also required very little sanding to smooth out the edges. Don't be afraid to trigger cut your composite stick if that's what you want to do. Just be careful and you should be fine.

    I use standard grip. I use to tape a grip. But I tend to go naked. Only tape is on the blade and butt end

    This is an amazing idea! Have you tried a curved notch?

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! I haven't used a curved cut out (mostly because that seems like too much work), but any notch will help with gripping the paddle! The triangular cut out lets your blocker glove rest squarely against the stick (if you have any extra padding on your finger). The best way to experiment is to take a saw to an old stick and let us know if you like it! Thanks for your comment!

    @@VOGoalie Cheers Mate! Thank you for the awesome info! I'm the kind of guy that's willing to do some extra work if I think there's a potential advantage, but it is foolish to try to improve something I haven't tried yet! Maybe you've mastered the angles! Lol! I made a training pad in my driveway (-20C here tonight!), so if I develop to the point of not being ashamed to post a video, I'll put one up! Thanks again for the great content! You really know how to get to the point of what you're talking about in a way that makes sense to someone learning...

    Thanks for your comment! I've cut this same trigger into at least 8 different sticks over the years and (knock wood) have never had any break or wear out because of it. I am also an avid poke checker. Also, being an exclusive foam core user, I retire most of my sticks due to splintering shafts (and actually in my almost 30 years of playing goal, can only remember breaking 3 sticks during a game).

    *Supreme S190 is a composite stick, right? I'm pretty sure it is, but just wanted to confirm, I won't be able to do this mod to that stick, correct?*

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks so much for your message! While I don't have one, I think the S190 is a composite and while you technically can cut it, it may affect the overall integrity of the stick. If you'd like to try out a trigger cut, my recommendation is to pick up an inexpensive foam core to try out!

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    6 жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way to modify a Composite Stick without compromising the integrity. It may be possible for some different shoulder design if it came from the factory, but a DIY mod is most likely not possible. Maybe someone else with inside composite knowledge can chime in?

  • @camwhite7808

    This is not accurate as to how the trigger grip is supposed to work. The middle finger goes in the notch, the pointer finger remains over the paddle and the adjustment allows the wrist to straighten out increasing the mobility of the wrist. This is just wrong and spreads misinformation. Trigger grip wasn’t designed for space in paddle down. If you want more clarity, contact myself or Sean Murray at ProFormance Goalie School.

    I agree with you on something. I applied that idea, but I think my wrist is a little stiffer than it used to be (Vladimir, Russia).
