Crochet Remix Dress
Correction: the crochet abbreviation tc in the video refers to tr (treble crochet)🧐
Essentials
* Long loose fitting Tank Top (we wear a size small but we got a medium tank top for a looser fit to cover the butt)
* Yarn: Caron Simply Soft or Red Heart Soft in black
* Measuring tape
* Hook: 6.5 MM
* Scissors
* Large Eye Yarn needle with sharp point
Thread the large eye needle & measure the yarn a little more than double the length of the hem of your tank top.
With the right side of the tank top facing up, locate a seam on the right or left side of the top. Place the needle from inside to outside on the hem of the top and sew along the bottom hem for straight stitches.
Weave yarn in and out of hem, creating 1/2 inch loops with 1/4 inch spaces in between each loop. End the final stitch on the inside of the garment, create a knot and cut.
Round 1:
Starting in a loop on the left or right side of the top,
Ch3, dc in same lp, 2dc in next lp, *2dc in each lp around, sl st in top of beginning ch3 to close
Round 2:
Ch3, dc in next dc, dc in each dc around, sl st in top of beginning ch3 to close
Round 3:
Ch4, tr in next dc, tr in each dc around, sl st in top of beginning ch4 to close
Round 4:
Ch5,(counts as 1tr + ch-1 sp), sk next tr, tr in next tr, *ch1, sk next tr, tr in next tr, repeat * around, ch1, sl st in 4th ch of beginning ch5 to close.
Round 5:
Sl st in next ch-1 sp, Ch5 (counts as 1tr + ch-1 sp), tr in next ch-1 sp, * ch1, tr in next ch-1 sp, repeat * around, ch1, sl st in 4th ch of beginning Ch5 to close. Fasten off
Measure 5 to 7 inches from the side seam, place stitch marker in the corresponding ch-1 sp to indicate the center of the split
Row 1:
Starting In marked Ch-1 sp, Ch4, tr in next tr, tr in next ch-1 sp, *Ch1, tr in next ch-1 sp, repeat * around until you reach the last Ch-1 sp, tr in next tr, tr in the same ch-1 sp as the beginning Ch4, turn
Rows 2,4,6:
Ch4, tr in next tr, *Ch1, tr in next Ch-1 sp, repeat * until you reach the last Ch-1 sp, Ch1, sk next tr, tr in last 2tr, turn
Rows 3,5,7:
Ch4, tr in next tr, tr in next ch-1 sp, *Ch1, tr in next Ch-1 sp, repeat * until you reach the last ch-1 sp, tr in last 2tr, turn
Trim
Ch2, dc in next tr, dc in next Ch-1 sp, dc in each dc & ch-1 sp across, now
working along the inside of the Split,
Ch1, dc evenly along the sides of rows until you reach the top of the split & continue along the other side of the split. Sl st in top of the beginning ch2 to close
Soft Ruffle:
Working along the trim of the skirt
Ch3, *3dc in next dc, dc in next dc, repeat *across, sl st in top of beginning ch3 to close, fasten off
Weave in ends

    I love this idea! Thanks for the tutorial. This would be a good way to add sleeves to a tank top, too.

    YESSSSSSS HUNTEEEEE this is exactly what I was looking for . Early this morning I had a vision and it was THIS video,! what a confirmation.. as I get older with my craft my hands have begun to cramp up on me maybe I hold my needle way to tight added, ease up on my tension is what I whisper to myself often ...relaxxx..😁 . Plus I have arthritis. So for the last few weeks I was saying to myself how bout I just "short cut " or remix my work . So I don't have to spend hours on a big project ! Ps I been following you guys for about 10 years if not more ! You guys are the OG of this I'm for ever grateful 💕

    I love crochet edgings. I may not be able to wear the dress, but I'd love it as trim on a tank or a tee. Thank you for the tutorial.

    This is so great! Could you show how to do this to a short sleeved t shirt? I remember seeing a picture of this in one of your pattern books once. Love this style!

    I love it!! Now I know how to make a plain tank or long tee pop! I cant wait til you demo your trippe cover up top! I bought yarn for that one. Lol Question..have you ever added the Red Heart Botique yarn to any projects? I have a lot of it, but cant seem to figure out what to do with it.

    I apologize my question have you two ever added the Red Heart Botique Ribbon yarn to any projects? Then yarn is very fragile I have a lot of it, but not sure how to use it.

    Hi twins! Very cute. I was wondering, I’m kinda new to crochet. Still learning techniques, gauge( which I still cannot understand) . But I was wondering is there a reason that you wrap your yarn forward on the hook versus behind?? Thank you

    Hi hon! LOL! No difference at all. When you see the yarn being wrapped forward that means its Erika and when the yarn is wrapped behind that’s Monika! We actually crochet a little different :-)
