Thank you Chuck !
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using cycles for rendering, Also if transparency doesn't work, check if you don't have flipped normals in the cube.

didn't flip normals so was useful

If you just create a cube and use it as your water, why would anyone have flipped normals?
@macronomicus
10 ай бұрын
@@davidswanson5669 on a fresh cube, if you scale the cube in edit mode on z-axis, it will flip the normals inward when/if mouse position goes negative X value, try it, you can visualize the normals with the overlays panel. When scaling on z axis you drag mouse up/down for scale but at same time drag left if you want normals inside & drag mouse right if you want normals facing outside, sometimes you want one or the other, its just a convenience really. New users may not know thats a thing & end up getting their normals reversed on accident.
One of the best tutorials that I came across for realistic water in blender. Thank you Chuck!

Absolutely the best.
This is absolutely best tutorial for water in blender I ever saw. Quik and clear, no unnecessary information just what all we need. Thank you!!!
I love tutorials like this! Fast and simple and something that would take me hours to figure out on my own (with much worse results). Thank you!

Very concise and effective. Thanks!
Amazing tutorial! Thank you so much!
Amazing video & instructor! This helped a ton!
thx. This works perfectly. Just adjust scale if you have closeups or small scenes, smaller scale etc. And clarity or murky by setting absorption density and color. Nice!
Straight to the point. Liked!
Such a good tutorial, thank you so much!
well done bro, you saved me with those nodes! Ty very much!

Adding some great renderings to the videos would definitely increase the value and show the work you have put into it. The real time renderings from blender are looking awesome!

Thank you so much! My water always looked dull and not clear. You helped me a lot! 🥰
EXCELLENT tutorial!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you it's really nice! I added a gradient with a color-ramp to the density of the volume absorption, that allows more control and makes sure you never see through the water. ( make sure the gradient is vertical of course ;) )
@chuckcg
11 ай бұрын
In fact, absorption works like a gradient, absorbs some light and gives that gradient effect of the water, so no need to add a new gradient, because absorption looks better.
@timotheesadowski8967

@@chuckcg ah thanks for the info. I put the gradient on the density slot. So basically I can have the water to be clear until a certain point and then become darker again. But if it's useless I'll remove it ^^

I don't think that's a bad idea at all, similar to how you can control fog height with volume scatter
thanks for sharing
