Hey GlamFam! In this video I am showing you how to cornrow for beginners, I break down the basics of underhand braiding, how to cornrow, the difference between cornrows and dutch braids, and how to part hair for cornrows. Throughout the video I also share time saving tips, and tips on how to prevent traction alopecia. I also included solutions for all the common mistakes I see beginners make, and I even share tips to prevent hand pain and arthritis! This is an incredibly detailed tutorial for cornrowing, and it is my hope that it is massively helpful. If you like it, you may like some of my other videos as well:

@@GetGlamFam Yes, I'm finding it very beneficial for me. This is something that I've always wanted to learn. My mom couldn't do it, so she was unable to teach me. 40 minutes ago, I was challenged to learn to braid by all 4 of my younger sisters, and I have 6 months to go from knowing nothing about hair to being comfortable with braiding so I can 'beat' my sisters in a braiding challenge. I appreciate how clear, concise, and detailed the video is. It's given me the confidence that I can win, in 6 months. This might turn out to be a great skill for me to develop and keep in my back pocket for when I have daughters of my own one day or if my future wife ever wants to get cornrows/braids.

What made it click for me was saying under the middle and grip the outside strand and just focusing on the top of the braid and not underneath. I’ve been trying to learn to cornrow for over 25 years and just couldn’t figure out how my fingers were supposed to be positioned and how much hair to grab. Thank you so so much for taking the time to teach the two different hand positions for starting and finishing the braid and what not to do. This video is pure gold!

*Updated comment. Guys I really learned to braid my daughter hair from this video. Thanks a million. I always use to practice but stopped but me seeing this video give me the motivation to take a deep breath 😮‍💨 and try to braid. I even purchased this Manikin head. Not really used it but im going to practice other hairstyles and try some weave styles once I get this braiding down a little more.

I have watched and attempted cornrows for years on my daughter's hair, I had honestly given up. We tried crochet braids, styling her hair in box braids, that honestly took so long and she was miserable during the process. I recently decided to do crochet braids again, this time trying cornrows and then crocheting her twists in, while I am just learning and know it will take time, this video has been the best instructional video that I have ever watched. I cannot describe to you how MUCH I LOVE, appreciate & have learned in a short time, from this video! From your amazing guidance on slowing/ rewinding the vid to your comfort level of watching. Your tip on repeating, "left/ right/over the middle" (since I have the EXACT difficulty you mention, having almost ZERO nails but having learned braiding over the top instead of from under, so that was always the technique I used, no matter how much i struggled & inconvenient it would be!) Your parting, demonstrating the width of the scalp, etc... I'm just so grateful that you made such valuable content. I may be Caucasian but my husband is black & I've always wanted to get more consistent w/ his hairstyles, besides just an afro. Costs for hair salons can really add up & since he's an entertainer, I LOVE the idea of getting to change up his styles/designs! Practice, practice, practice is the best way for me to excel but NOW, w/ all of your articulate & helpful techniques & instruction, I believe I'll improve much quicker! ❤ THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! P.s. now I'm DYYYYNG to get a mannequin head to practice! 😝

This is one of the best tutorials I have seen on here. I did cornrows on my friend’s head for the first time today. The parting tips were very helpful !

Thank you. This has changed my daughter’s hair life. She will no longer be limited to flat twist styles. I’ve always wanted to learn how to cornrow. Now I know that I will be able to do it. They way that you explained this was phenomenal. Continue to do your calling. Such a blessing.

You are a great teacher!!! I really like how you reminded us to talk ourself through it. I’m legit gonna go to sleep saying “under the middle, left under the middle, right under the middle” haha so good! Great job!!!

I'm grateful for the wealth of content on here from many people. But this tutorial shows the difference between someone who knows how to do a Cornrow showing us versus an experienced cosmetologist with a gift for teaching. Thank you for all the small tips too along the way. I have 2 young daughters and keen to improve how to braid their hair, thank you ❤️

Out of the 50 videos I've watched trying to learn to braid rows I finally ran into this one. You are a great instructor and very easy to learn. Your voice is very calming as well!! Like Bob Ross and his paintings. I love it!!!! You're amazing!!
