Dad here - can not thank you enough for this. My daughter always feels so proud when her hair is done well (which isn’t often) and likes to show it off. I’ve been wanting to learn to do this sort of thing on the regular for her, but was too intimidated to try. Having hair that’s about half an inch long for most of my life, I have next to zero experience with any sort of hair styling. Your break down and tips throughout were *chefs kiss*. I appreciate your expertise and dedication to your craft.

I do not need to look ANY further! You are an EXCELLENT teacher! I LOVE how you even explain how the different parts of our brains learn new things, and how to not expect it to be perfect the very first time. You are an excellent instructor, and also an excellent human. Thank you so much for doing this, I am going to try it later today (I use avoidance with new things so it will be 'later today 'haha) .

My grandmother was a beautician, my mother braids beautifully and my sisters can all braid or do hair styling of sorts. I am the oldest. And at 33 years of age and having nothing to do with styling or combing anyones hair not even my own. My husband started picking out my wigs it got so bad. I now have two daughters. You my Sir have blessed me. I can now do my entire family's head of mixed hair. I practiced for about a year on my own doing boxed braids in my head, regular ponies in theirs. Now I'm moving on to bigger, better and more creative braids in all of our heads. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!

I watched 3x's The 3rd time I began reading comments. You nailed it! It's like watching the Bob Ross of hair braiding. I have medium length hair I'm going to try on myself before I do my daughters. She doesn't even like getting her hair brushed. It's thin hair she has but so much I have to brush underneath 1st by splitting the top/bottom. Then do the top in small sections. I'm trying to work on this since she is 7 and growing bangs out. Which are at a challenging length at the moment. Thank you again for the best tutorial on braids.

Oh my goodness this video is gold! Gold I tell you! I have had people stand right by me trying to show me how to do this, didn’t help. Over a year ago my oldest daughter needed a Dutch braid into ponytail for dance competitions. I watched a bunch of tutorials and still couldn’t do it. Regular French braids I can handle, pull through braids no problem. But my brain could not do Dutch. After a bunch of dance moms complained that the hairstyle was too complex it was changed. And now this year’s dance competition hairstyle for my youngest daughter is a Dutch braid into side curly ponytail. After watching this video a couple times. I was like “BAM!” I got this! It really helps to follow your advice and practice just a regular braid pulling it under. I practiced it 10 times just like you said. My youngest has a performance tonight and thanks to you her hair looks fabulous. Thank you, thank you. Your students are blessed to have you as a teacher.

Another dad here and I've been braiding both my daughter's hair since they were little toddlers, they are now 27 and 30 and I'm still braiding their hair. I learned to braid hair by just starting and practicing and now I just dutch braid their hair and they wear it overnight for the extremely curly look the next day. I have also cornrowed their hair but watching your videos, I've learned the proper techniques of braiding. I've always used my own method and it works really well, my braids look pretty professional but learning the correct techniques is crucial. Thank you for your videos, your patience and dedication to helping us be as good as you. You are appreciated!!

This was so helpful! I though I could braid on the scalp but I watch this and at the beginning you said do this first. In the ponytail....so I put my baby girl hair two ponytails (after trying the advance way for ten minutes )and braid with burentts on the ends. Cutest style for her😍

I just started getting into braiding my hair again and wanted something more than the basic three strand overhand braid. This video gives wonderful, easily understood instruction on Dutch braiding. After practicing with French braiding a bit, this video made a great deal of sense to me. Thank you for making and posting it.

Ok this one braid that has escaped me for 30 years. I am so used to do regular French braids but think Dutch braids look so much cleaner and cooler. I have tried hundreds of times and have never been able to do it. Not one video but this one had you practice going under first, I’m used to going over in a regular braid. That right there was freaking genius to have us practice first, that made all the difference. I can now successfully Dutch Braid. Thank you so much. I can add that ti fish tail, waterfall, 8 strand braiding
