How to Cook Spaghetti Squash

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How to cook Spaghetti Squash
This is a basic spaghetti squash recipe :
Slice squash into halves.
Place cut sides down in shallow water in a roasting pan.
Bake for about 45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove squash from the oven and carefully turn halves over to check for doneness --the water will be hot and steam will be trapped under the squash, so be cautious.
Allow squash to sit 5-10 minutes to cool slightly for easier handling.
With a fork or spoon, remove the meat of the squash.
The squash will pull away into strands that resemble spaghetti, although this squash will taste nothing like spaghetti.
Spaghetti squash is easy to cook and makes a great main or side dish. The squash has a wonderful texture and its mild flavor allows it to work very well in a variety of recipes.

I remembered when I'm young, my aunt makes a dish using a plant she called "Noodle fruit" and when I got older I can't find that fruit in any market in my country, I just assume my aunt just using any fruit and scrape it to make it look like a noodle. Its been almost 20 years and damn, now I can rest in peace knowing that my aunt "noodle fruit" is actually legit and real.

The first time I had spaghetti squash, I had it longways and while it was inside the squash and it was good. However, this method of cooking it and carving out the noodles that way made this so much easier to eat and I love just being able to eat as much as I want from a bowl instead of a squash slice. 10/10 for this video!!!!

I planted a packet of mixed winter squash seeds in our vegetable garden last summer, and it seems there were some for spaghetti squash in there also. It stores nicely in our small basement with the acorn and other hard shell squash. I got out my Mom's old Better homes & Gardens cook book, looked up winter squash, and they have two ways to cook it: One is like you show, in the oven for 30 - 45 minutes. But the second is to cut it in half, then put it in a large pan, cut side down in an inch of water. Bring to a boil,, then turn the heat down to low, cover the pan and let it do its thing for 15 minutes. Works like a charm, uses less gas and is speedier also. I'll have to cut it in half crosswise next time like you show, thanks for the tip!

nothing wrong with a microwave if you use it for things that aren't processed food. if you cover a plate with cling film or saran wrap(for the americans) really tight, then either use that low calorie oil spray or lightly wipe oil on it, then lay herbs like sage, parsley, basil or coriander and give it a quick blast in the microwave, it helps you make crispy herbs without a deep frier!

Love the video guys. I’ve been a chef for 25 years in England and now in Australia but I’ve never come across spaghetti squash, I’ve heard of it though. The first time I heard of it was thru an American chef I was working with in London about 20 yrs ago and I was like what?? It’s similar to a butternut pumpkin but comes out like spaghetti??? That’s crazy!! Anyways, fast forward to today.. I’m just passing by my local fruit and veg shop in Sydney Australia, and they have it there! They don’t normally have it because I go there a few times a week, so they’ve obviously taken a chance in it at the markets and decided to buy a box to sell. As soon as I saw it I thought wow I have to buy one as I’ve known about this for so long but never seen it!! So I don’t want to mess up cooking it, so I KZread a video and yours was the top one so I watched that and really enjoyed it. Thanks chef buck and also thanks to the nice lady who cooked it in the video. Love and peace coming at ya from Australia!!

I added my Italian sauce recipe on it and added parmesan cheese on top. My son loved it, I loved it, and even my picky eater shih tzu repeated, after his customary meal ( with just some meat on it). Thanks for this great idea. I will substitute the pasta from now on, since we need to loose weight!!!

I've watched your recipe several times and it's the only method I use to make spaghetti squash. I often come back to reference certain things I need to do because I'm not a really good cook. Anyway, two months and six squashes later, I've come back once again to check something and realized I never liked or commented on your vid, a mistake I mean to correct now. Thank you so much for posting this helpful video. It's worked great and my family loves it. Liked and subscribed.🌹

Best method I've tried. Nice long strands and even cooking all throughout with the water addition, allowing me to get the most out of each squash. A great food prep vegetable and an easy grow if you have a garden. My favorite and nutritious substitute for pasta if I'm making chicken Alfredo or spagetti squash and meatballs. If you are on a weught loss diet you can fill up fast and eat a ton of s. squash because it's also very low in calories.
