How to cook Asparagus - quick and easy way - with tips on using the "end" pieces
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Asparagus is nutritious and delicious :) It is also very easy to prepare and cook, ready in minutes! I also share some tips on what to do with those hard "woody" end pieces :) Veggies are an important part of a well balanced meal, and I hope you enjoy this recipe.

Ivo’s Asparagus
Ingredients
• 1 “bunch” of asparagus (typically 1 - 1 1/2 lbs.)
• Salt to taste
• 1 - 2 cloves of garlic, cut into thin slices
• Extra virgin olive oil - enough to drizzle over top of asparagus.
Process
• Wash asparagus then pat them dry with a towel.
• Break off (snap off) the hard ends and put the hard ends aside (see note below)
• Place asparagus in a roasting pan (I line my pan with parchment paper)
• Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over top of the asparagus, then salt them to taste, and place the slivers of garlic on top.
• Preheat your oven to 350 deg. F. and bake for 10 - 13 minutes (convection bake is preferred) - OR - if using a toaster oven, no need to pre-heat - just set to 350 deg F. and bake on convection bake for 10 minutes (asparagus cooks quicker in a small toaster oven)
• Remove and put on a serving plate, drizzle any olive oil in the roasting pan on top of the asparagus, serve and enjoy 😊
NOTE: The hard, “woody” ends of the asparagus do not need to be thrown away. I have 2 uses for them:
1) Put them in a freezer bag and freeze them for use when making soup broth.
2) With a potato peeler (or paring knife) remove the outside layer of skin off the ends, and inside will be a white, tender piece of asparagus that you can cook and enjoy

I like the tips on using the end pieces 👍🏼
You’re a great teacher! I loved the way you explain what you’re doing! I can’t wait to try this one. Thank you!❤️
Such a great way to use the ends. Thank you
Interesting about the woody ends. I do this with broccoli but never thought of it for asparagus. Thanks for the tip!
Wouldn't it be easier on the fingertips to peel the woody skin off while the spears are still intact? Good prep and presentation! Thanks for the tips.

You can definitely do that but just make sure you stop peeling before you get into the softer side👍
Love the tips. Thanks Pier
Looks yummy and delicious! Thank you for the great tip for the ends, you’re a great teacher thank you for sharing! Liz 😊

I had no idea how to cook asparagus. Thank you for making it simple! :)
Thanks for the tip about the ends. I will try it.
This is how we cook our asparagus. So much more tasty than steamed or boiled! We don't break off the ends though. When in Germany my husband bought a utensil specifically for peeling the asparagus ends and it works great, much easier than a knife because it grips the stem. No waste!
Ahh that crunch is just perfect
Thanks for the video, you taught me something 🥰 I Love asparagus and usually save the ends for broth. Did not know you could shave the woody part away. Will definitely take the time to do this. With my next meal. Thanks again 💜
Yes chef! Thankyouu🎉
Ivo. Thanks for the great taste test. I am sure you had the meat and bread waiting on the counter. Great idea for this time of year. Much appreciated

I love asparagus.. but my husband does not. I have to try this method. My mom always told me to buy the skinniest asparagus as they are the best. Do you find that true? Thanks for the recipe

The skinniest ones tend to have less tough ends 👍

You said you had washed them before you cooked them, but you took them out of the sink. 🫣 Was it a mistake or do you normally do that?

the sink was 100% clean and what I did was wash them then just let then rest in the sink while I was filming, just to drip off some of the excess water - you can wash them and put them straight on a towel though - no need to put them in the sink :) Hope you give this recipe a try - comes out great all the time
