Great tip! Will save me a huge amount of time color grading (except for a few difficult clips) and allows me to still shoot in log 3 to capture the largest amount of dynamic range (something like 14 stops vs. 11 stops). You should have way more views and deserve way more subscribers!

Good vid. Straight to the point. Appreciate that I didn't have to listen to a pitch for Grammerly before getting to the meat of the topic. That whole info panel is a mess. I always find myself having to try half the options in that menu before finding the setting I was looking for. Apple should just have two options: basic and advanced. Speaking of which, anyone know where that wonderful interlacing option that was in there disappeared to?

I 100% agree that the info panel gets the poop emoji for sure, I remember watching a video for something else and I swear up and down the person had the camera LUT option outside of the info panel. If I find that video or figure it out I will reach back out to ya. For the interlacing items, I think it might be in the section where I show how to switch from Basic to general, scroll down to the bottom and select Edit Meta Data View and it's in there as a option to enable via a check mark.

@@markthecre8tor That deinterlace checkbox is different to what was there before. Used to be a pull-down where you could chose the upper/lower and I think another option. In any case, thanks for the note!

Had no idea about this. What if you are working with a mixed timeline of both LOG and REC709 clips?

This is where it gets tricky, and why I mentioned maybe when converting which is what you just called out. Some are good enough at color correction and grading they don't even use a conversation LUT, which is where I would like to get. I have found it's less frustrating to convert all the clips vs trying to match a corrected and graded clip to a converted clip. You can test this real quick by converting one to rec709 and then take another clip or scene shot in the same lighting and try and match them up, you can try and maybe get close but note that rec709 had a ton of dynamic range tossed when it was converted, so matching gets challenging.

I just want to add however when you do this to my understanding FCP Ads the lut before all of the color fx including Color wheels and curves so all of your adjustments are made using the post rec.709 conversion. I hope I'm wrong so feel free to make any corrections.

I think you are correct, I use it sparingly but I am still on the hunt for an official LUT from Sony, not a creators LUT.

I was excited to come across this, but when I looked on Final Cut it didn’t give me the option for camera lut. any idea why this is?

Double-check that you have the actual clip selected in the timeline, if you have an adjustment layer selected it won't show all of the fields. Make sure the clip that you selected is not a compound clip either, I found out after the fact that creating a compound clip after an edit strips some of the metadata fields IE camera LUT.

But it’s very different if you check from Sony concert s log it’s logo more better then what Final Cut Pro have

There is of course a waaaaaaaay easier way to do this….. just shoot in REC 709 from the word go….. unless the Sony doesn’t offer that luxury ❓
