Hello from Arizona, I hope you can answer my question. I heard that the reverse polarity adapter is required when using Ecoflow Delta with Harbor Freight solar panels. I want run an extension cable, so I won't use any additional reverse polarity adapters because the polarity is already correct down the line. Is that right? Do you have a part number or description on what extension cables I need? Thanks so much!

I have been two days trying to get 400 w out of my (2) 200w Renogy suitcases and all I was able to get was 200w. I watched many videos hooking them together and I thought for sure it parallel connection needed. You made it simple for dummies like me to understand that it was suppose to be in series. Hooked up to the EcoFlow 2000 Delta Max. Thank you for being so clear and posting this I am now getting 400w input. Question - snow on ground and camper covered but when I’m ready I’m going to change the controller to 600amp and with the 100w plus’s the 400w charging 2 batteries 12 volt. I then need to connect it all in parallel AM I CORRECT ?

Just leave them in series. Just image 5 light bulbs on one wire, if a wire breaks the whole system goes down. However in parallel if a wire break only that light goes down. He miss spoke when. He said now you have series and parallel. When wired that set up in series. Series offer better performance. However if one panel gets blocked the system suffers parallel won't. Keep your's in series just make sure you have no blockage, leaves, snow, etc.

A single panel is 1x volts and 1x amps. If the panel is 5 amps then it goes like this. Lets make it simple by only looking at only 2 panels Connect 2 panels in parallel and you have the panels voltage at 5 amps. Connect 2 panels in series and you will have 2x the panels voltage but still at 5 amps. When you connect 2 panels together, you can only double the voltage, or the amps, not both. So, in this video he has the first pair of panels in series supplying the power station with double the voltage of a single panel at 5 amps. Then another pair of series panels are connected to the power station which will supply the power station at double the voltage but also at 5 amps. Therefore, the two pairs of series panels are connected to the power station in parallel. The total from the 4 panels is 2x volts at 2x amps. If a single panel is 20 volts and 5 amps, that's 20x5=100 watts. A: Two panels in series is a total of 40 volts at 5 amps, that's 40x5=200 watts. b: Two panels in parallel is a total of 20 volts at 10 amps, that's 20x10=200 watts. So, if you connect as the video shows, the total is two sets of (A:) panels, which is 40 volts (the volts are still 40 because now we're connecting the pairs in parallel) but the amps will double to 10 (remember, series doubles volts, parallel doubles amps). 40 volts x 10 amps = 400 watts. If a power station could take 80 volts, it would be possible to connect all panels in series to give 80 volts at 5 amps, 80 volts x 5 amps = 400 watts. Too many volts would damage the power station, but if the volts are within the acceptable range the power station would not be damaged no matter how many panels you connected.. e.g. if you connected all of the 100 watt panels in parallel that would total 20 volts at 20 amps in theory, but the ecoflow delta max would only take a maximum of 10 amps anyway. No power station or load will take more amps than it's designed to, as long as the voltage is not exceeded. So 20 volts x 10 amps would be 200 watts. You would not damage anything connecting like this, but the extra power the solar panels could give would simply not be used.

    Жыл бұрын

@@dionnesanders2304 Two things you need to know. 1: What is the voltage of the panel in full sun when its not supplying power? This info is on the rating plate attached to the underside. A panel advertised as a 12V volt panel is typically around 20V in full sun with no load. 2: What is the maximum voltage acceptable for the item you're connecting the panel to? Only connect panels in series if the acceptable voltage will never be exceeded. Unfortunately just saying it's a 50 watt panel is not enough info. Is it 20V at 2.5A ? 20V x 2.5A = 50W or 10V at 5A ?, 10V x 5A = 50W Think of panels as being solar batteries. You would never use a mix of AA battery and a AAA battery to power an item. My advice is get the right size panels from the start. Will you be using 12 x 50 watt panels to get your 600 watts?

Not if you don't exceed the voltage limit. If the Delta can handle 10 amps at 24v, then adding more panels in parallel will not overload the charger; it will just allow the charger to provide more energy at lower levels of sunlight (assuming the charger controller in the Delta is smart enough.)

  • @johnnyfearlesszrx

As long as you keep within the volts range, higher voltage is always better because it keeps the amps down which reduces energy losses. Amps heat cables and lose energy, you need thicker cables for lower volts assuming you use the same watts. That's exactly why pylons use high voltage to spread the power over the country and then lower that voltage at local sub stations. If pylons used normal mains voltage the cables needed would be massively thick. If you use a charge controller to charge batteries with solar panels, the leads should be long from the solar panel to the charge controller and short from the charge controller to the battery for the same reason. Volts x amps = watts

I'm missing something here. You can't exceed 60 volts coming into the generator, right? If, wired in series, the voltage doubles with each additional 12 volt panel, wouldn't the voltage for all 4 in series be 48 volts? That's still 12 volts under the 60 volt range to not exceed. Curious why you didn't wire all 4 in series. Thankyou

Because the panels are in series / parallel configuration the voltage should only be 48.6 VOC (In parallel voltage stays the same and amps double, and in series the volts double, and the amps stay the same). What I can figure out is most 100 watt panels are around 6amps . The Ecoflow can only handle 10 amps. In this configuration the max amps would be around 12 amps. Maybe the max voltage on his panels are only 5.
