This looks amazing. Couple of questions: I’m in Maine and it looks like this could replace the gas generator I plug in with a 30A. True? Here in the cold Maine winter, does this need to be kept at a certain temperature? Basically, I’m looking for cold weather pointers. What are the max voltage and current on the inputs? Apparently I need something like 9000w of solar panels to run my house so is there a way to bump up the input as 4000w seems like it won’t be enough. Forgive my ignorance if these questions are wrong headed! I generally don’t deal with zappy things!

I have been off grid for four years, have done extensive research and everything you said is correct, the only thing to add is that the amount of cycles - Renogy's sealed AGM - 12 Volt 200 Ah only provides up to 500 cycles - that's not a lot. We found out the hard way - all sixteen of our batteries need replacing at $400 each (what we paid). They get heavy use in the summer months for obvious reasons, fall, winter, and spring light use. But honestly they started acting up last year, we noticed that 50% usage got down to more like 25%, now they are toast and we are looking at alternatives. We would have gone with Nickel Iron but they are expensive - would be a good video to show people the difference. I am pricing out server/rack type batteries - LifePo4, I am also pricing out the Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) - the manufacturer totes that they are the safest Lithium Ion chemistry available. No cobalt, risk of thermal runaway or fire. These seem to be a safer option for our insulated shed, still the price is a difficult pill to swallow. I like that the warranty is now 15 years on these with 80% depth of discharge and 10,000 cycles. Given our energy usage, we need at least 630 Ah to run a 1 ton AC at night and refrigerator, freezer and fans for 12 hours before solar kicks in. I needed to share something too, something manufacturers don't talk too much about - during the peak solar hours in the day, we assume that the batteries are charging while we use energy, however each of the AGM 12 Volt, 200 Ah would need up to 300 watts for 5 hours to properly charge - that means a whopping 4,800 solar array dedicated to keeping the batteries topped off. I could write more detail here but I think people get the idea - there's a lot of research and planning that needs to go into going off grid.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS "COMPANY"! As of 7/11/24 there are many red flags. I am out thousands of dollars and the scammer does not respond to emails or telephone calls. When I pretended to be someone else, using a different phone number, he responds because he thought I was someone ready to spend a lot of money. HE DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO SELL YOU!

I bought the unit, panels just went up today, very excited! Two questions. Can you add another inverter? We were originally going to go propane for all heating elements, but have decided not to. It does not seem like 8000W will now suffice: well pump, range, water heater, ac, etc. Also, will you be putting out a full install video out for this? Thank you!

Please help me. I need to replace the front part that plugs into the solar panels. I had a setup that was covered, but water got into the round port. It charged. The generator, but melted the metal stem of the plug. I have looked all over and can’t find it and don’t know what part to ask for. Please help. I sent it to my brother-in-law and he is also at a loss. I live off grid and desperately need this working. Thank you.

I want to build a system like this but I want to use two 12 volt lifepos 100 amp batteries, what size fuse do they use between the battery and the inverter, I see you’re using a 200 amp fuse , what determines the fuse sizes and can I use a 12v breaker instead

The RV can be plugged-in to the solar generator from the inside. Here’s how…In the Basecamp/Basecamp X, for example, there is a hatch in the wet bath that can be opened to pass the cord through to the inside. In order to prevent critters and other intruders from entry, make a DIY screen cover and install - doesn’t need to be anything too fancy although if you’re like me with serious OCD, go at it. Thoughts anyone?

My question is don’t AGM outperform lead acid? And can’t you use the AGM better for solar and doesn’t it also allow you to drain it further and doesn’t it charge faster than let acid?
